Whether your summer vacation plans include fueling up the family car or getting a stamp in your passport, you don't want to leave home without loading your smartphone with handy and free apps. CNET's Kara Tsuboi recommends some of her favorites in this Tech Minute.

And these days the hippest way to book your travel is through -- -- a travel search site that aims to take agony out of vacation planning. But a new Smartphone app and interactive graph displays airfares based on departure time and price. You can also sort hotels based on heat map for what interest you the hottest nightlife shopping or sites. When arriving in a new city whether that's Dubai or Dallas it like a local and -- the hottest dinner reservation through the app open table. -- searching is easy first by city standby time of reservation specific neighborhood number of people at the cuisines or dollar sign. Then read reviews to guarantee that you've chosen a winner. Whether you're zipping through Manhattan are cruising the canals of Venice the app -- stop can help you navigate public transportation with needs. And your current address and in your destination BI publisher all sorts of routes to take you there subway taxi bus or even -- -- it. Plus -- estimated calories burned.
