CNET News Video: Tech Minute: Special delivery: A holiday meal kit

1:04 /

This holiday season, take the stress out of cooking your family's celebration by eliminating all the menu planning and grocery shopping. Several new services can send you meal kits to take the guesswork out of holiday hosting. CNET's Kara Tsuboi brings us the details in this Tech Minute.

So, you're a novice cook, or curious to try new ingredients, or a new recipe, or perhaps you just wanna simplify your kitchen tasks. There are several good reasons to try out one of the new services that deliver fresh ingredients and recipes directly to your doorstep. First is BlueApron.com. For 10 bucks a person per meal, you'll receive all the ingredients you need to whip up one of their delicious recipes. Meals take less than 35 minutes to prepare and can cater to all dietary restrictions. Shrimp Risotto anyone? Plated is a similar ingredient delivery service, but with slightly less nationwide availability. It offers gourmet sounding meals like Mushroom Crusted Flat Iron Steak with Cauliflower Mash for $12 a serving for members. That Tortilla Soup would be a great appetizer for any holiday celebration. And finally, PlateJoy is a newer service that aims to plan all three meals of your day. Customize the delivery to your exact dietary needs and preferences and enjoy next day delivery for a minimum order of $79. In San Francisco, I'm Kara Tsuboi, CNET.com for CBS News.
