CNET News Video: Sure I'll clean my room: Apps to motivate children1:03 /
If you’ve ever had a stubborn child refuse to do his or her chores, this Tech Minute is for you. CNET's Kara Tsuboi reports on two websites that can help motivate children to complete their tasks by offering various rewards as incentive.
ChoreMonster is a new service that can help motivate your kids to do chores around the house. The web version has a very simple interface. An app also works on on iPhones and iPads. The Android version is coming soon. Parents can assign their kids chores, either from a predetermined list like brush your teeth or help with pets, or they can create their own like take the recycling to the garage. Give the chore a point value, due date, and then send it off to your child to complete. And once they do, they can work up to specific rewards the parents offer, valued at different points, like a new toy, or even something bigger like a camping trip. Goodie Goodie works in a very similar fashion, but is only for Apple smart phones and tablets. The Android compatibility is coming soon. Once you create a chore and it's completed, your child can redeem points for electronic gift cards to his or her favorite retailers. Parents can also add instant points if they witness spontaneous good behavior. In San Francisco, I'm Kara Tsuboi, cnet.com for CBS news. [MUSIC]
