First Look: Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H90 has a nice long lens1:26 /
The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H90 is a decent choice for those wanting a compact 16x zoom lens at a reasonable price.
-Hi there. I'm Josh Goldman, senior editor with CNET, and this is a look at the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H90. Now, the H90s are reasonably compact camera considering it has an ultra wide angle lens with a 16x zoom and a 3-inch LCD on the back. Now, the lens is the same when used on the higher end HX10V and 2011's HX9V. It's a very good lens, but the rest of the H90 is just average. That's mainly because it uses a 16-megapixel CCD sensor instead of the backside illuminated CMOS sensory found on the other two models. Now, that makes a big difference when it comes to low-light photos and performance. The CCD sensor in this just can't compete. If you can afford spending a little extra money, get the HX10V 'cause you get a much better camera. Now, that doesn't mean you should write off the H90 completely, it's good outdoors and daylight and its shooting performance is fine for landscapes and portraits, basically nothing moving. It has some nice features including Sony's Sweep Panorama Mode and a Manual Mode for controlling shutter speed and aperture. And again, it has a nice long lens. I'm Josh Goldman and that's the Sony Cyber-shot H90.
