I would have liked to have been an engineer, but my father was and he discouraged me.
He said they'd never hire a woman.
97 year old Olive Horrell grew up in a time long before computers.
We had no electricity.
[MUSIC]
No radio.
Olive had one wish, to visit Google.
To me it's a epitomy of all the wonderful tech stuff that comes out.
Olive's wish was granted by her assisted living community Brookdale and the organization Wish of a Lifetime.
[MUSIC]
From a driverless car, to virtual reality, Olive wasn't just searching Google, she was touring it.
[LAUGH] This is fabulous.
Oh my gosh.
[LAUGH]
Yeah.
Yes I'm seeing something.
[LAUGH]
[INAUDIBLE]
too loud.
Oh my gosh.
When, Can you possibly tell me what up there that's so vacant to me you call a cloud?
The cloud is basically a computer that I don't have to hold in my hands, but I have access to.
Just like that?
Push a button and you have history right in front of you.
Oh, my gosh.
To the right you can look around.
[LAUGH] You mean all the way around.
[LAUGH]
[MUSIC]
I'm absolutely terrified.
Yeah just don't mess up.
[LAUGH]
Yeah it's.
You see when I was growing up if you ran outside the curves you
Being scolded.
No here you have to draw outside the lines-
[LAUGH]
It's a part of our job.
[LAUGH]
Oh isn't that amazing.
I'm like a little kid.
[LAUGH]
Where are these coming from?
[LAUGH]
Even though Olive was wowed by all this new technology, she thinks people these days spend too much time living through their smart phones.
I think they're missing a lot.
I think they're missing a great deal.
Look at life.
