>> Hi I'm Kent German senior editor at CNET.com. Today we're going to take a first look at a Samsung SGHT329. This is a new phone for T Mobile service. It's a pretty mid range to low range camera phone for T Mobile. Samsung puts out a lot of these, the previous was the Samsung SGHT309. Although this is technically the successor to that T309, does look a lot different. it's not black, has a silver and gray. Then only drawback to this curved shape though is if you open the phone, and you want to rest it on the table, let's say you want to text, you want to speakerphone, the phone does wobble around a lot, really doesn't stay in one place. So that is a little bit annoying but is just a characteristic of the shape. Did like the vertically orange head external display. It's kind of unique, we're seeing this a little more on cell phones lately. You turn on the side it shows all the necessary information time, battery life, signal strength, doesn't show photo caller ID and it does not work as a self-portrait display. Camera lens is right above, no flash. Here on this side there is a volume rocker, here on this side there is a dedicated camera lens, which sits just above the port for the charger and the head set. That is only one port so you can't use both at the same time. Open up the phone and I have a pretty decent internal display, 6500 colors so it's fine for going through the menus, which are pretty easy to understand pretty simple design. However it's not that great for looking at photos or viewing games. We've become a little spoiled by the 260000 color displays so you do notice a difference a little bit. Moving down to the key pad buttons pretty nice design, very simple, standard Samsung with the square toggle okay button in the middle. There is no dedicated speakerphone button, that's the only thing we were really looking for. Down to the keypad buttons, they are slightly raised above the surface of the phone, which is nice. So it is easy to dial by feel, they are very tactile and get the hang of. You can see the numbers are relatively large as well, it's great for people who might have visual impairments. Buttons are backlit as well, so they are easy to see in dim situations. Over all the phone has a lot that the T309 had. Has a VHA camera, speakerphone, and instant messaging, however the T329 has Bluetooth, which is a nice touch. I'm Kent German and this is the Samsung SGHT329.
