Reasons you should get the Apple iPad
Welcome to CNET Top 5, where each time we meet, we count down another hot CNET list. I'm Tom
Merritt.
The iPad, like most Apple products, it inspires both hate and love.
Haters should stop right now and go watch the Top 5 on reasons not to
get an iPad.
This show, is for the lovers.
Let's count down the Top 5 reason you should get the Apple iPad.
At No. 5, iTunes. Say what you will about the program, but
this is where most people keep their music, videos,
podcasts, and apps, and the iPad will work with all of it
right out of the box.
Coming in at No. 4, performance. Every person I've met who has touched
the iPad, even the haters, commented on how zippy it is. And that's one
thing that has plagued other tablet-like devices. You want these
things to work fast. And iPad seems to.
Up to No. 3, video. You can load this thing up with movies and TV
shows, take it with you and watch with a much better, and bigger,
screen than most portable DVD players. The demo of "Star Trek" on the
iPad made me drool a little.
Sliding in at No. 2, It's an e-book reader! Pretty much every format of
books, including Kindle can be read on the iPad. And it looks good! No
ugly gray e-ink. This is vibrant color. I can't wait to read comic
books on it!
Before we get to No. 1, it's time for another lame prize. No trivia
question this time, just your comments. Tell us why you love the iPad
(save the hate for the reasons not to get the iPad post).
I'll choose a winner from the first 30 people to post their opinions
and give them these two collectible Apple posters! It'll do your
Apple-loving heart good.
All right. Let's get to our No. 1. The most compelling thing about the
iPad.
At No. 1, it's...games
Put this thing next to the Nintendo DS or the PSP. This is an
incredible gaming machine and it's only going to get better. It comes
immediately with thousands of titles. You can store them right on the
device. And it has motion control via the accelerometer.
Apple may have not intended it this way, but it's the most compelling
portable gaming device on the market. Partly because it does so many
other things as well.
Well That's it for this edition of CNET Top 5.
Don't forget to make your comment on the blog post for this Top 5 for a
chance to win the Apple posters.
I'm Tom Merritt. See you next time.
