[ Music ] ^M00:00:01 >> Is your iPhone off? Are you sure? I'm Tom Merritt from CNET.com with a quick tip on how to really turn off your iPhone and here's why. Did you hear about the guy who racked up 4800 dollars in data charges because he was in Europe and he thought his iPhone was off but it was actually checking email the whole time. Here's how to make sure iPhone is off. Now, we've got the little power button right here. When you turn it off the screen goes dark, right, okay. But, that doesn't mean the phone is off. And this is something you should know for airplanes too. To make sure the phone is totally turned off and not using the Edge network or broadcasting signal hold the power button at the top down for a few seconds until you see this screen slide to power off. Then, slide it over and your iPhone is now off and you don't risk thousands of dollars in Edge network data charges when you're on a Mediterranean cruise. That's it for this quick tip. I'm Tom Merritt for CNET.Com make sure it's off on the plane too. ^M00:01:07 [ Music ]
