Watching DVDs on an Xbox is much more enjoyable when you don't use the game controller.
[ music ] >> Your X-Box 360 can play DVDs, but then you have to use the controller to operate the play and pause. It's kind of a pain if you want to pause the movie and the controller has gone to sleep. You have to wake up the controller, find the pause button on the screen, all while you're missing a scene and need to go to the bathroom. I'm Tom Merritt from CNET.com. Here's a quick tip for controlling your X-Box 360 with a remote. Now the simplest way is buy one. You can get a media center remote like this, they retail for about twenty bucks, and you can find them used for around fifteen. However, that's one more remote to add to your collection. If you have a universal remote, here's the trick. I'm gonna use the Logitech Harmony as an example. When you set the universal remote up to watch DVDs, don't program it to control an X-Box. That actually won't control anything because it figures you need the game controller. Instead, tell it to control a media center PC, any one will do. Now, the play and the pause and the other functions will work on the X-Box right from your remote. [ background music ] That's it for this quick tip. I'm Tom Merritt for CNET.com. ^M00:01:05 [ music ]
