Quick Tips: Accessorize your iPod Nano

>> Hi, I'm Molly Wood from cnet.com, and here's some quick tips for accessorizing a new iPod Nano. Now, this is a cool gadget, but it doesn't come with everything. For example, let's talk ear buds. These things here, these are okay for the gym, but if you're commuting or flying on a plane or just trying to drown out the rat race around you, I highly recommend investing in better headphones. Now, I like noise-canceling headphones for flying. You'll know they're noise canceling if they've got a battery pack like this one, which actively cancels that external noise, but actually any old in-ear headphones will do. In fact, Apple sells its own for $39.00, and even those are a huge improvement over the buds. Now, when it comes to charging your iPod Nano, you'll only get this USB cable, which charges through your computer. Now, I think it is totally worth it to get this $29 USB power adapter, so that if you don't want to be shackled to your computer whenever your battery starts to give out, you can be a little more portable. Apple, this should be included. Now, the iPod Nanny is a great work out iPod because it's flash-memory based, which means it won't skip on the treadmill. But you don't want to be throwing it around all over the place either, so look into an armband of some sort. Now, Apple sells them in matching colors, of course, which is fine, but they're a little bit flimsy, and they do not protect your iPod as well, so check out some other brands like Nike, Speck, In Case [phonetic] or many, many others. And finally, if you're really into working out, you have got to check out the Nike Plus iPod Sport Kit. You put a little receiver in your Nike shoe and one in your iPod Nano and the censor sends information from your shoe about how far you've run, how fast you're going, how many calories you've burned, plus it will even encourage you in a calm and friendly voice. Nice. Now, unlike previous iPod models, the Nano is made of sturdy aluminum, much like the old iPod Mini. For that reason, I don't really think that a protective case needs to be your first accessory purchase. In fact, I plan to live without one for a little while, but if you're worried about having to sell your iPod on Ebay as soon as the next model comes out, you might want to invest in one just for protection purposes. In that case, just start shopping. Everyone from Speck to iSkin to Louis Vuitton and Prada is dying to outfit your new Nano. Have fun. That's it for this iPod Nano Quick Tip. I'm Molly Wood at cnet.com.
