CNET News Video: Presenting, apps that challenge PowerPoint

1:03 /

If you’re in the business of making presentations, you’re probably a pro at using software like Microsoft’s PowerPoint, which is now offered on the iPad. But PowerPoint is not the only option: In this Tech Minute, CNET's Kara Tsuboi reports on competitors that can help make your slideshows wow and entertain with great visuals and seamless technology.

[MUSIC] People who are familiar and comfortable with Microsoft PowerPoint are thrilled that it's now available on the iPad. But there are some complaints. Not every feature translates to screen tapping and it costs 99 bucks a year to use. A less expensive option is Apple's own KeyNote software for iPad and iPhones. The initial app download is 10 bucks and it's free to use for all your charts, graph and slides after that. It works seamlessly with desktop versions and you can even swap slides, with Power Point users. Haiku Deck is a great free option for Apple users. It's focus is on strong visuals, so users have access to thousands of striking images from photography archive. With it's intuitive design, Haiku Deck has the potential to make presentation prep actually fun. And finally, all types of tablet users can download the free deck slide show presentations app. Choose a theme and this app will take all the formatting stress out of putting together a polished presentation. In San Francisco, I'm Cara Tuboy, Cnet.com for CBS news. [MUSIC]
