Panasonic's Lumix DMC-FH20 is a very good value for those in need of a basic point-and-shoot with a midrange zoom.
Hi, I'm Josh Goldman, senior editor for CNET Reviews and this is a look at the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FH20. It's a fairly basic 14-megapixel point and shoot camera with 1 standout feature, a 28-mm equivalent wide angle lens with an 8x zoom. Otherwise, it's, again, pretty standard compact camera. On back is a 2.7-inch LCD and a set of controls that should be familiar to anyone that used the digital camera. It shooting moods include 24 scene options, 720p HD movie capture, and Panasonic's intelligent auto, which gets its own button right here on the top of the camera. It allows you to quickly switch between auto and another mode, so you can easily go back and forth between shooting photos and movies, for example. Shooting performance is average for its class, but it does have low shutter lag in bright condition and starts up reasonably fast too. Photo and video quality are overall very good. It drops off at higher ISO sensitivity, so low light and indoor shots could be better. But in spite of that, this is a very value for those in need of a basic point and shoot with a mid range and lens. I'm Josh Goldman, and that's a look at the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FH20.
