3:15 /

Bridget Carey talks e-readers and tablets with CNET executive editor John Falcone to get details on what we can expect from Amazon, Apple, and Barnes & Noble in the coming months.

-- averaging here we here and say -- -- -- sitting -- chatting with John Falcone executive editor. Who wrote a comprehensive. Overview of all the different. The good -- for your -- we have some of the best reviewed ones here including new nexus seven tablet. There's also been some talk of the new tablets coming -- What's in store for us. Read the whole thing is we don't -- any specifics whatsoever but there's a couple. Good guess as we can make we think Apple's gonna have an event in early September where -- announced new iPhone. It's quite possible they could also announce a smaller iPad at that time. Is an Apple we've got we've also pretty sure to see events from Amazon. Probably and you lighted candles and -- Kindle fire to. And probably also Barnes & Noble announcing a new product this fall so. We have some of the best ones right now rate here but my advice was basically wait a few more weeks because the whole. -- -- it get completely overturned so wait until September October. I think so I think -- at least wait until mid September to see what that Apple's gonna -- -- and I would also hold out for Amazon which. We think is gonna be. So in the next line where's the technology heading where is there room for improvement. -- -- the real battles going to be for this seven inch 200 dollar ish tablet. So Google nexus is the -- right now. The Kindle fire to view -- and then next Nook Tablet are going to be gunning for the same space but. -- they going to distinguish themselves. In terms of pricing or offerings is kind of up in the area. So I'm negative decision Howell they have a -- says is the e-book store play and my decision making. It's a huge factor that's a -- -- ecosystem basically so. When these guys make their hardware like Barnes & Noble and Amazon you can only get their bookstore and in the -- Amazon. There you -- music stores as well on their own device. But what's interesting about the iPad is it has all of those stores basically. Kindle nook. And Apple's own iBooks and iTunes store. So. Open Android tablets like the next seven and the iPad actually give you a choice. All the stores. For you -- your books on but each them has special things on their own hardware. That is unique to them like. On the Kindle fire and Kindle. Readers that's the only place for you can get access to -- Amazon's. Prime service which is -- -- dollars a month. And gives you at least one free book a month meaning that Harry Potter and country. Answers they are right thanks John looking -- has seen how the competition shapes up this fall. Thanks for watching it -- inside scoop and Bridget Carey.
