[MUSIC] Hey guys. My name is Stephen Beacham and here's what's happening this week on CNET's Crave Blog. Designer Anouk Wipprecht has designed an interactive dress. Synapse using Intel's Edison chip for wearables and built-in sensors to visually display the wearer's feelings and sense of focus and excitement in real time. The dress was a collaborative effort with designer Niccolo Casas and materialise.com. The flashy outfit was 3D printed using a flexible material called thermoplastic. Plastic polyurethane. It contains embedded leds that react to a variety of stimuli from the body of the wearer. A special headband uses electroencephalography to monitor brain activity and the body of the garment measures heart rate using electrocardiography. For EKG. These sensors are used to monitor the wearer's focus on whatever she is experiencing, causing the LEDs to glow. When her attention reaches 80%, the dress takes a photo with an embedded camera. To save a snapshot of whatever made her feel tense or relaxed. Synapse also has a proximity sensor that can detect how close others are to the dress. If the dress senses that the wearer's heart rate and brain activity increase while people are standing very close it will shine the LEDs at their full 120 watt brightness as a warning to back off. Check out more designs at vimeo.com/anoukwipprecht. In other brain-wave sensing clothing news, Neurotiq by Sensoree is a stylish and emotive hat that sort of resembles a bubble bath. The head consists of several similar components to the synapse dress, including an emotive EEG headset, which monitors neural activity at 14 points. It includes a knitted nylon mesh frame that sits over the emotive head. AKA the bubble bath looking thingy. Embedded in the mesh are 14 3D printed globules containing color changing LEDs that display the wearer's brain activity occurring in real time. The sensory website explains that the different colors represent different brain state. Different lights can show different hues as different part of the brain engage in different activities. Neurotiq, or Neurotiq, I'm not sure which one is it, is not currently available for purchase but Sensory is taking pre orders for a limited edition run of biometry displaying mood sweaters. Read more in the blog post about these mood sweaters. MIT. MIT and Massachusetts General Hospital are developing a needle studded pill to deliver medicine directly to your digestive tract in about a week's time. This medieval-looking pill might be more effective at delivering drugs than needle injections and would allow doctors to deliver pill forms. Of certain drugs that cannot be taken orally due to the effects of stomach acid on absorption. The pill was tested on pigs and was found to deliver insulin more effectively than an injection according to a report in the Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences. The pill capsule can be filled with a variety of different drugs. It has a special pH sensitive coating that won't dissolve until it gets where it needs to be in our digestive tracts. Previous studies of the accidental ingestion of sharp objects in human patients have suggested that it could be safe to swallow a capsule coated with short needles, because there are no pain receptors in the GI tract. Patients would not feel any pain from the drug injection. According to an MIT report. Now there's an app to help find someone to cuddle with. Finally! Cuddlr is a location based social meeting app for cuddling. According to the Cuddlr website, the app uses GPS to find people who want to cuddle within walking distance. And shows their name, picture and cuddle reviews. Once you have made contact with your Cuddlr and you both agree to meet. Real time walking directions to the fellow cuddler will appear in the app. Once you and your cuddler are together you can even take a Cuddlr selfie with your new friend. Now I know what you're thinking. Steve, how long before a cuddler gets murdered? The Cuddlr website claims to have certain safety measures in place. You must be at least 17 years old to use Cuddlr. You will be banned if you consistently use the app improperly. Your location is not shared until you indicate you want to cuddle with the person. And you can block. Anyone if you don't want them to see you on the app. Cuddlr is currently available for iPhone and will be coming to Android soon. Alright guys, that's the show, thank you very much for watching.
