The Mohu BeBox is a little bit of an odd beast.
This is a five hundred dollar wireless speaker which not only features an onboard Android tablet and an onboard battery, but also an HDMI output.
Kitchen sink sold separately.
This is a solidly made unit.
And the integration of the seven inch tablet is pretty seamless.
I also like the little touches such as the hardware power button.
While you can use this mainly as a Bluetooth speaker, the ability to load android apps gives you access to a huge range of streaming apps.
Unfortunately it's not possible to easily use your phone as a remote.
And if you just use the onboard music player, it's also a little complicated to load music onto the device.
But it's a capable music player with plenty of bass and a decently even-handed sound.
It's not as good as other wi-fi speakers, like the Sonos PLAY:5 or the Bose SoundTouch 30, but then again, they don't have the Mohu's laundry list of features.
Though Mohu is mostly known for its thin antennas, with the BeBox, the company has shown it's not just for cord cutters anymore.
