CNET News Video: Microsoft debuts 'Surface' for tablet crowd

Microsoft's Steve Ballmer and Steven Sinofsky announce a line of tablet devices at press event in Los Angeles Monday. The Surface tablets, running Windows 8, feature 10.6-inch touch screens wrapped in a magnesium case. They also feature a magnetically-attached, 3mm-thick Touch Cover that folds down and functions as a full touch-screen keyboard.

Best. It's been true. Microsoft surface. It embodies the notion. Of hardware and software -- really pushing each other. People do want to create. Edit and so. They want to work. And they wanna play. They -- -- be on their couch. They wanted to get their deaths. And they want to be on the go. Surface is super thin at nine point three millimeters. It's just been enough for this full size USB port. For peripherals are just charging your phone wired hotel. The edges are beveled -- 22 degrees. So the key -- itself fades into the background. It feels natural in your hands. Surface. Is the first PC. With a full magnesium case. Three unique process. -- liquid metal is formed into an ultra rigid. Yet ultra light frame. It is incredibly strong in its area and under one point five pounds just 676. Brands. And its finely balanced. We think that it -- stand should be interval so we built a stand into the device. -- attach the cover. Click you heard that it's solid. -- Close to cover its integrated into the device. It's -- from -- buying. Northwest polar tech. Feels great in your hand like a book just sits there. Why shouldn't we just take the surface and make it a full multi touch keyboard. This touch cover. It's not just a full multi touch keyboard but it's a modern track pad with left and right buttons it even has the keys for the windows eight mattress value -- This keyboard combined with a kick stand -- -- hallmark but just hands on creativity.
