First Look: Logitech Wireless Mouse M505

1:38 /

The Wireless M505 Mouse is a good choice for anyone using Logitech's Unifying USB transceiver (which also works with its keyboards), but it's priced a bit high considering its limited button layout.

[ Music ] ^M00:00:03 >> What's up, guys? I'm Justin New [phonetic], Associate Editor for, here to take a first look with you guys at the Logitech M-505 Wireless Mouse. Now, this 50-dollar travel-friendly mouse comes in three colors: black, grey and red. And as you can see, it's a lot smaller than your standard desktop mouse. It has a symmetrical design that lets you use it comfortably with both hands, and while we're happy to see that the scroll wheel on top is notched, as opposed to smooth, what happened to the thumb button on the side that we're so used to seeing in Logitech's mice? Turns out you only get three buttons, two of which on either side of the rocker switch, and one is the rocker itself. So underneath the mouse, you'll see a laser-tracking sensor, as well as an on-off slider to conserve energy. You'll also see a switch that releases the battery cover underneath the palm area here. The mouse runs on two double-A batteries, and Logitech tells us that they'll last for up to 15 months of moderate use. Now, the M-505's true claim to fame, though, is it's one of Logitech's first mice to include the unifying receiver that lets you use one single USB plug to control up to six compatible mice and keyboards. And each device comes with its own so you can connect them to several different host computers. Now, we think this technology's pretty neat because it frees up precious USB ports, but it also means that you're marrying into the Logitech brand. Now, that's not necessarily a bad thing, though, since we generally think highly of Logitech, but it's something to keep in mind before you buy. You should definitely check out our full review to get all the details, but I'm Justin New, and you just took a quick look at the Logitech M-505 Wireless Mouse. Thanks for watching. ^M00:01:36 [ Music ]
