First Look: LG HBM-800

1:37 /

Despite a few issues, the LG HBM-800 is a good solution if you want both a Bluetooth headset and a speakerphone in one package.

>> I'm Nicole Lee, Associate Editor for cnet.com and this is a First Look at the LG HBM-800. It is a combination of a Bluetooth headset as a well as a car kit speakerphone. It consists of two parts--a Bluetooth headset as well as the speakerphone cradle that it docks into. The Bluetooth headset itself is pretty slim and small. On the front here is a multifunction call button; you just press the phone icon to activate it. On the side you do get the power switch as well as the volume controls. On the back is a very typical in-ear earpiece. When you dock the headset into the speakerphone cradle the audio automatically transfers into the speaker. So you can now use this whole unit as a Bluetooth speakerphone. The speakerphone cradle also acts as a portable charger for the headset. The speakerphone itself has its own set of controls, the power switch as well as the volume controls. The LG HBM-800 comes with a little visor clip that you can attach on the back of the speakerphone here so you can use it on the car's visor. The HBM-800 comes with a slew of accessories. They include a car charger as well as a secondary headset charging unit. Overall we like the sound quality of both the headset as well as the speakerphone; however the speakerphone has a slightly harsher sound quality. The LG HBM-800 is available for around $60 although you can find it cheaper online. I'm Nicole Lee and this has been a First Look at the LG HBM-800. [ Music ]
