First Look: Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon3:29 /
The new ThinkPad X1 Carbon claims to be the world's lightest 14-inch laptop, and it has a premium feel that few ultrabooks can match.
I'm Dan Ackerman and we are here taking a look at the brand new Lenovo ThinkPad X one compartment. Now about a year ago we saw -- -- X one and that was a laptop this before they even had altered books that was designed to sort of compete with. The MacBook Air a handful of other really super thin thirteen inch laptops up -- appeal to business users at the same time. That's a perfectly nice out but it wasn't really as generously as a MacBook Air. I didn't really stand out from the crowd too much out when I first saw this new version the X one carbon I think -- and I felt. -- they didn't really change the name it's still called the X one is kinda looks seem at first glance what -- traditionally been upgraded enough. For us to really pay attention to but now that I actually have the X one carbon hot -- it is not yet. This version feels a lot different than the original I drew a lot of fun to use field -- -- him very light. They pumped up the screen to be fourteen inch screen even though the body is still just about the same size as a thirteen inch laptop. And the Lenovo says this is the world's latest fourteen inch laptop it's just a hair under three pounds -- just caught three pounds. And it is as thick as a thirteen inch ultra book should be even though it has a fourteen inch screen. Now of course it's got that the latest that third gen Intel Core I five CPU of a lot of the models have done have have three G data. Antennas built in. And doesn't have discrete graphics card which have actually seen on some high -- notebooks recently just a regular Intel XT with other graphic. But that has something I really appreciate in -- lack of of this size and that is a 16100. By 900 screen as opposed to the thirteen 66 by 768 means a lot of thirteen and even some -- Laptops have both those sort of feel cheap I think sixteen -- nine for thirty to 42 is really this sweet spot one of the app. The down screen real estate and -- ability. All the same time. One cool features that you can Bandelier. All the way back like this now the one problem you're gonna happen with the -- thinkpad X one carbon. Is honestly the price it starts at thirteen 99 on just one tiny step up model was 1499 in just gets more expensive. From there are also companies -- -- we were charging a premium and certainly Lenovo ThinkPad line is among those especially for your business unit within your companies gonna buy a laptop. You're not gonna -- -- by yourself. That being said if they could have -- -- down closer to a thousand dollars even for a slightly stripped down version. It would really be a must apply because I'm they've got all that sort of thinking and engineering that goes -- Thinkpads especially. Of the keyboard protests through the -- curved bottom keys that are a lot easier to type bond. And I think it'll lead to any at least a paying a premium for it. I did however light up this new style of track pad which on the -- seen on the Lenovo for its a its a glass -- track and and it really is probably the most responsive windows tract -- I have ever tried. I'm effective so responsive I have to take humans to get used to it because that the point was just zipping around all over the place. So if you can handle the high price. Against thirteen 991498. Or higher depending on what IC PU and how much -- hard drive space you want. I I really have not seen an ultra thin laptop that probably is all -- usable. Outside of maybe a MacBook Air if you're being Apple fan out and this -- right here. I'm Dan Ackerman and that is the Lenovo ThinkPad X one carbon.
