Today, we're taking a first look at the LaCie 324i.
The LaCie's professional monitor definitely looks the part.
It has a dark chassis, a thick panel, and includes a number of ergonomic options like tilt, swivel, height adjustment, and pivot.
All of which are synonymous with professional monitors.
The LaCie has a wide foot-stand, and when adjusted to its lowest height,
doesn't wobble much when knocked from the sides.
However, when adjusted to its highest height, it does wobble considerably.
[unk] in danger of toppling however, thanks to its 24 pound hefty weight.
We had a mixed reaction to the on-screen display or OSD array.
It includes brightness, contrast, color options including color temperature and RGB customizations.
It also includes gamma and even black level control.
The LaCie has two USB downstream ports,
one upstream, component ports, HDMI, display port, and DVI.
At its default setting, we weren't too impressed by the LaCie's movie performance.
However, after a little bit of tweaking up the green and blue values, we did see a picture with good color and a deep black level.
In games, we saw vibrant color with a good level of saturation.
The LaCie costs over $1100.
The Dell U2711
costs under $1000, has a larger screen, and a higher resolution.
The aforementioned NEC costs a little bit more than LaCie, but has many more customization options.
The LaCie is a well-performing monitor but doesn't have enough bang for the buck, compared to its competitors.
