Hottest Tech Products (May 2012)
If you look at the top products in tech, you see a lot of familiar
names: iPads & iPhones...or Kindle Fires & Galaxy Tabs for the
libertarians...and a smattering of Sony and Canon pocket
cameras for reasons that are beyond me at this point in history.
But today were gonna skim the top, just the freshest stuff that is
on fire: The Top 5 products trafficking on CNET that were
reviewed in April or May of 2012.
#5 Nokia Lumia 900.
This is the smartphone that is trying to
reset Microsofts image as not making a smartphone anyone
who doenst work there is buying.
Its hot looking -- especially if
you dont get it in Retina Ripping Blue -- runs Windows Phone
7.5 which we love, and costs as little as $49.
That said, all the
looking in the world has yet to raise Microsoft & Nokia beyond a
rounding error in the smartphone market, but this strong interest
sets the table for Windows Phone 8 late this year.
#4 HTC One S, featuring the much awaited Android 4.0 OS
skinned with HTCs Sense 4 interface, a killer camera and
amazing display all driven by 4G in a thin and scultped body.
With that slimness you lose any expansion slot or removable
battery but this is still the best thing T-Mobile has in their line and
making other carries encious, which doesnt happen alot iwth
TMO.
#3 Is the Asus Transformer Pad TF300, sort of the Transformer
Prime for people who want more, want to pay less and dont
mind if its flimsy.
Asus has carved out this one-company industry
of making convertible tablets that actually sell in decent
numbers.
The TF300 is a steal at $380 -- not including the $150
keyboard dock that you just plain want to steal instead of paying
that much.
But this is currently the best value in an Android
tablet.
Thats why youre hunting it down on CNET.
#2 kinda comes out of left field: The Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard
Cover.
You know, this thing.
Youve seen it on everybodys iPad.
We call it the best accessory ever for iPad 2 & 3, the best
executed cover & keyboard in one.
It connects with magnets like
Apples Smart Cover, which means itll also be falling off onto the
sidewalk the same way.
Good thing its fairly cheap at $99.
Buy
and extra and put your laptop on eBay.
#1 is of course a smartphone, which narrows the field, um, none.
But the winner by a MILE is the Galaxy S III, Samsungs flagship
phone that is coming to the U.S. Summer of 2012.
We got an
early look at its 4G, 4.8 screen, 4-core CPU and Android 4.0.
Now, half of the traffic for this phone may have come from the
haters who criticize it for having a plasticky case and a mere 8
MP camera and perhaps jettisoning the quad core on the way to
the U.S.
but religious wars have always been part of tech.
So there in a nutshell are the 5 new products you need to know
about.
In a couple months well have replaced them all, so come
back for that video and all the rest at Top5.
