GE Power Pro X500
Hey there!
I'm Josh Goldman, Senior Editor with CNET and this is a look at the GE X500.
So, earlier this year, we took a look at the X500's predecessor, the X5 and very little has changed from that model to this one.
It still has a 27-millimeter wide angle lens with a 15x zoom.
It still has an electronic viewfinder.
It still has shutter speed, aperture, and manual shooting
modes, and still takes AA-batteries for power.
It's also still very inexpensive at less than 150 dollars.
Really, the only differences between the new and old models are resolution bump from 14 to 16 megapixels and some new scene modes.
The photo quality is essentially the same to the higher resolution.
It doesn't improve things and actually seem to slow down at shooting performances which was already pretty slow.
So, I wouldn't recommend this for regularly shooting active kids and pets.
However, photo quality is better than you might expect giving its price and frankly its brand name.
Like, most lower any point-and-shoots; it's not great in low light or indoors without a flash, but give it plenty of light and you get some very nice photos with good color and exposure.
If you're just starting out with digital cameras or really want to learn more about control and shutter speed and aperture or simply want
an easy to use megazoom without a huge investment, this is a solid option.
I'm Josh Goldman and that's the GE X500.
