GameSpot's The Lobby - With 2016 expansion slated, what's new for Destiny?
Destiny two baby, it's coming out.
In 2017,
2017.
Gonna bring some sort of large expansion pack in 2016.
Yeah good.
I wasn't sure if they said fiscal 2016 or if they meant 2016.
I think they meant 2016, 2016.
I think it's gonna be 2016.
I would assume it would probably be in that like Anniversary-type range of like September when kinda the game came out originally, so.
Taking King has done a really awesome, by far the most popular expansion, backed by 25 million registered users.
Jesus.
That's a good expansion.
Yeah, I mean, it is, the expansion had fixed a lot of problems, right.
And so what do you want somebody who like House played a lot of destiny especially last year.
You're kind of off the board like the contacts aren't there right now, you're not playing destiny at the moment.
I haven't played for a while, and this week I played a little bit because they had an event, a Valentines day event.
Yeah they did, double XP.
No they don't have [INAUDIBLE]
Your partner.
But it was fun.
It was 2 v 2 PVP was kind of the big stand out there.
But they also had emotes that you could spend with micro transactions.
Including the strange dance, I think, which is essentially Hotline Bling.
Really.
Yeah.
Yeah, wonder [INAUDIBLE]
Yeah Yeah, Yeah.
And then there is like the awkward dance which is Napoleon dynamite.
So.
Yeah that's like some 2004 World of Warcraft elf **** right there.
Sure.
Yeah.
Exactly.
I guess that
They already own the animation.
Yeah.
But.
Drag and drop right.
Exactly.
But I played a little bit probably two days worth.
[INAUDIBLE]
Yeah exactly.
It was fine.
I'm not
Playing it like I used to.
But then again, part of the reason too is my raid group stopped playing,
Right.
It was kind of the weekly, we would get together and we would play.
That's why these things matter, right?
These Temple releases because then you're like, alright, we're back in, we're going to,
Yeah, but then there's also the problem of when people quit, and they were already kind of starved for content, and kind of getting bored.
It's harder to bring them back.
It's true you gonna keep them on that sugar.
You gonna keep-
[LAUGH] Yeah.
Fresh supply in their blood stream at all times.
Like I'm struggling to potentially get one of raid members to come back whenever this expansion comes out cuz it's like I think I'm just done.
Yeah.
I think I'm done.
And then the other raid mates like yeah you know if you got him to play I'll play too.
Yeah.
But only if he plays.
And it's like great.
Now I have to do this weird Friendship.
Managing thing.
[LAUGH]
Where it's like all right I guess if I wanna raid with these guys again I gonna go.
You wanna go see them [UNKNOWN] but it's not really a good film.
It's kind of a **** one but like if you could just get one of your friends go [UNKNOWN] is going.
Yeah.
[LAUGH]
I have hard time getting people to go see Magic Mike XXL.
Really?
That was not a good movie.
Did you see his packs?
I love the first one
Like I [UNKNOWN] I see your joking right.
I have not seen either one.
And now everyone knows that you have, hook like and sinker.
I'm okay with that, I'm comfortable with my masculinity.
If I heard that movie was funny I would go see it but-
Magic Mike is definitely a good movie.
It is.
Yes.
You're the first person that's ever said that to me.
Okay if you go into it with low enough expectations [UNKNOWN] Mike it's a surprising movie, it's not what you think it is kind of.
The second is one is exactly what you think it should have been.
Anyway, sorry too much Magic Mike.
Diablo ex is already planning the week long flu to have a round of games released.
Please.
Are you looking forward to a new expansion pack, or are you more looking forward to a Destiny sequel?
I think just because I don't know if I'm used to it now, I am looking forward to an expansion.
Especially cause it sounds like it's gonna be Probably as big or somewhat close to taking King Size, not so much those smaller ones that they did release.
In which case, that means there's gonna be a raid.
We're kind of done with those ones, right, the small ones?
Yeah, it seems like those are done cuz they're doing these little events like WoW-esque, I guess, in a way, but it sounds like it's gonna be a little bit bigger.
Probably because it has to be bigger.
It has to make it until Destiny Two, right?
It's got to keep your interest for a little bit.
So looking forward to the raid.
i think that's the funnest part of Destiny.
It's still one of the Kind of the obstacles, though for them a little bit.
Because they don't have a system in place where if you don't really know people to play with, you know?
Yeah.
To experience that, but if they have all the single player stuff too, I'm looking forward to it.
And I don't need to take a week off cuz I'll be playing in the office.
[LAUGH]
There you go.
The beauty of working at Gamespot.com.
We're very lucky.
Yeah, so do you think they'll have to add eventually some sort of ability to group up with randoms?
Yeah, well.
Like they had that core group of people who were playing all the time, so if it does become a little bit more disparate.
I don't know the mechanics of these online communities.
But it seems to be something that enough people are calling for, right?
Yeah, I mean, the interesting thing is right now there are tools, but they're not within the game.
Right, there are like websites and stuff you can use.
Reddit, Reddit as well.
But they generally work out and most of the time, surprisingly, the people aren't dicks and there's been a surprising amount of community strength in terms of In terms of people that sherpa other people, and they're really good about it.
Like live streamers and whatnot.
[NOISE]
But yeah, hopefully by Destiny 2, I don't think by this expansion you're gonna see anything like that.
I would hope that by Destiny 2 there's some type of in game mechanic.
Cuz they already have Kind of matchmaking type stuff and they do have numbers behind your character, right?
So they can probably take that math and say okay, well you're within this range.
It's the raid range.
You guys should be able to play together and clasp specific type things.
Hopefully, I don't know.
We'll see.
And I guess last point on this for Destiny 2, whatever it is we're calling the thing, what does that need to be?
Does it need to be a similar slice of gameplay but just new maps, new areas, new story, new campaign, or do you want like a boning crusade type of game that takes what's there already Adds more quality of life stuff, maybe connects it up a little bit more fluidly.
What is it that you want in particular?
Are you happy with what's there?
Would you be happy with all disappearing and going to one side and a new game appearing?
Or would you like to keep that?
It's important that that stuff remains and that there's more layered on top.
I think
It would be nice to see, maybe like two more new planets or something like that.
I think that the game's always gonna revolve around some of the stuff that's already there.
It does a pretty good job of that now.
There's all these areas that people walk through and then they're, this is part of [UNKNOWN] or something and then they expand on it and they're like, that's pretty cool.
They do a good job of All these.
Like the scenery and stuff like that is beautiful.
It's a thing that I don't think enough people talk about.
You can walk around and you can see something and remember that and have a memory of that, but I want them to build upon the world that they have now.
I really want them to kind of go even more so towards the story that they've kind of Slowly have fixed a little bit now with taken king.
ANd I think if I read the news today I think Bungie has hired the mass effect andromeda guy, or person.
Their story.
Cool.
I think
And hopefully that first and helps creative bigger stories for [UNKNOWN].
[UNKNOWN] North back in the booth.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Or think like this is **** double down on that guy.
Yeah.
We'll see.
Thank you so much.
[UNKNOWN]
No.
Thank you.
[UNKNOWN] [LAUGH]
I guess
Really appreciate it.
Folks in the chat, chiming in as well.
BurgersB saying a huge raid would be very cool, TeamToaster1, Destiny 2 to be a prequel.
