1:11 /

CNET gets some quick hands-on time with Samsung's Youm flexible display technology at CES 2013.

-Hi, this is Josh Lowensohn from CNET.com here at Samsung's post keynote demo of Youm, that is the flexible swing technology that's gonna be in tablets, smartphones, and all sorts of new devices that Samsung hopes the companies are gonna make. Let me show you what's cool about this. The splinter actually wrap around. So, on these 2 reference designs for basically concepts you get the display that wraps around the side, but here it's on the bottom and over here it's actually on the side of device. I want this let you do see a display or notification or some sort of message without actually having to open up the device or see it. Samsung examples that you can have it on the table and flat and still see that kind of stuff. They kind of have visions and products that wrap around like binders or bi-fold wallets. It still has all your displays going. So, there's no price or release date on this yet, but Samsung says it intends ship into its partners in the future So, again, this is the first look at Youm Samsung's new flexible technology. I'm Josh Lowensohn for CNET.com.
