Ep. 1488: Sharks with frickin' lasers on their heads

Culture
Today -- Monday June 13 2011 -- -- -- Steven beach of I am Brian solved and I am Molly Wood luck in a buzz out loud in a podcast of indeterminate length at a depth of 1488. -- Go and grab of the best -- because they think that ever came. The best move ever came -- or her Summers -- -- be here for a -- gonna go away no consensus about what we can -- we had like three days in a row of summer. And I it it's completely it's and. IPad like a 180 mood lights. From may not to mention that the show that we dedicated to area 51 a week ago and there was wondering when is that going to be tech news Molly's piece was out today on the CBS the early morning show. Also you can see kind of a three part piece on news is -- news.com. Yet that -- is on the crave blog crave at cnet.com -- being promoted today at -- -- news.com and I think that's I was excited. He got a -- on the -- -- -- I did I got four minutes under the three authority of pretty I mean I'm only you only steamy Philly and -- aren't practical for some people to these needs and -- it's really interesting I love the like it was cool corporate energy because we actually got to do the three -- extra night I got and I'm just. Just bloated and parts of the -- -- -- you know. Does but also they didn't they and forces him and -- web extras on Nancy get their own point. And remember them saying go check out they -- cnet.com but didn't say you -- consume more videos about it. Really yeah I didn't really wrote that and I -- that hepatitis C at a meeting that they if you watch online parenting on TV -- -- thanks for that report. You know but he didn't say. There wasn't if he said he would have expected -- like go to CBS news the much more accurate about the -- you know we wrote that in but then we ended up making the -- twenty seconds longer and I wonder that -- -- the tag -- -- -- And how does guarantee you we're talking shop right now I really like who cares I came -- -- we say it is every show. But for some easy as the -- where the importance. How -- -- all of corporate synergy people's welcome back it would is good we heard you guys must be doing that and Ankiel or -- it's at its muscle memory yeah like. -- -- -- so on the news just the fall appears Spanish police Spanish police web site was hit by anonymous hackers in this was. Arm according to anonymous in retaliation -- last week on Friday we talked about how three Spanish men. That -- claimed to potentially be corps members of the group that -- were involved in the hacks were arrested in Spain so in retaliation. Spain's web Spain's police website was taken down by anonymous with the denial service. We have they -- they manage the hackers apparently to keep police -- -- dot ES offline for about an hour. They vanished a spokesman for the -- said the cause of the outage. Had not yet been established but in a statement anonymous and that it was a direct response to the Friday arrested three individuals alleged to be associated with active cyber Civil Disobedience. Attributed to anonymous now. Meanwhile in Turkey. Anonymous has been going been going after Turkey quite heavily actually and there are various government website and an off line for days. Now Turkey's state run news agency as saying that police have arrested 32 people. Allegedly linked to anonymous that they were taken in to connect into custody just today. After -- and a dozen city. So yeah -- -- oh right they're attacking Turkey over the plans to introduce. Internet -- yet. Further legislation of you know not allowing them to get. Pretty much controlling what's out there on the Internet via in Turkey so they here's and it's keeping the C of these things are gonna pick up steam or. Packers -- -- and it shut things down and take it down -- -- because once. People start you know actually having legal ramifications and are potentially going to jail. It's got a scare some of these actors love it. Yet -- little they know they're there -- -- fragmented organizational across many states many nations. Doing their own thing independently in some cases but -- does that. -- quell this activity that's been taken up lately. And -- the potentially lend credence you know we have that report last week I think you weren't here then -- there was a report last week where. Well at least one security analysts was saying that it was possible that one in or. Hackers black hat hackers is actually -- government fed informant because. They're really easy to turn you know to they're in many cases young and -- -- their their acting under the -- rubric of anonymity. And then once they get busted and -- They're like oh we're playing in the real world -- we should stop that. I don't know if it -- using anonymous as. Methods are just interesting overall because what because there what what they say that they do in. Contact the lol -- is. Peaceful protests on the Internet that GDR acting as an act of peaceful protest. But the -- have gotten unbelievable. The stricter in response to mean there is just recently that law passed that and if there's any kind of effect cyber attack that originate outside of the country. That it's considered an act of war potentially if they're not there yet I mean. -- believe there's no question that there's like a crackdown -- and the united government to -- we inhabit it and I wouldn't want anyone interested in Turkey. -- -- Anonymous doesn't seem to be slowing down though they issued a video. And the Saturday eleven yes. Saying that their next Margaret target actually is the US Federal Reserve because they want Ben Bernanke. To step down as a result of the crimes against humanity. That have been perpetrated by the Federal Reserve would actually -- I can't totally disagree that the -- I'm doing -- live with it Steen and an eight isn't for you for. You gain about anonymous is that you know a denial mystery denial service. I'm not gonna say isn't that bad but in the large scheme of things you take down a site -- day it's not that bad but really they've been able to get their messages out. Then right lol sect completely different method they're trying to steal data distributed. Publish it on the -- like I don't think there's many people on the side of lol -- for -- -- you know. Philosophical. You know. Means that they're going after what message they're trying to -- out they're just there's up to no good -- where's anonymous is at least trying to connect there. You know hacks or DD OS attacks with some sort of message which. Makes a little more effective and meaningful for me. I think -- you know -- like been as interesting kind of it's been interesting to -- wander into the gray areas right try to figure out a cable who MI sympathetic to anybody here and if so why. But it does seem to be shaking out that low tech is basically just like. They're just rampaging across the Internet like. I heard of oxygen right and they are you know -- V -- there outing people for going to porn sites like that there was some story today that we team put in depth about them. Outing 26000. People for visiting porn sites -- -- I ordered. -- -- does not African business and like when -- -- after PME we did the numbers -- -- legally -- your PBS and Nintendo like. Okay puppy -- -- -- really not. Building a lot of sympathy for yourself on the other -- -- -- anonymous it's just like let's and we are. We think that what the Federal Reserve has done in terms of like damage to the global economy is to their politically motivated group and they're trying to -- like. There are actual injustices happening. And we. We want to stop it -- like we're gonna DD US Turkey because they want -- in and we're -- the US. The Federal Reserve because that the economy is in shambles and no one -- even been criminally charged. Even though they all knew exactly what it on in the third -- -- It becomes this -- -- where any vigilante -- is potentially dangerous by anonymous with Arnold a lot better it's as. Let's -- when you kind of agree with some of the causes that they're bringing up new EU Canada well. You know I don't I don't want anyone and -- -- a web -- to be you know have a DD OS attack but then. Tenant when I started seeing the pattern of how they've kind of developed what they're doing in Andy's shown what temp but causes -- -- messages -- -- and out like Hewlett. I gotta say like that's there's some point to it. Yeah -- -- -- it can we watch a little bit of a few videos that that threat against the Federal Reserve. Includes a list basically of all of the crimes that the federal -- had committed under Bernanke and it you don't -- it compelling. -- entry in the world. You have what degree of confidence in your ability to and for 100%. But it can. -- -- We should probably read what the message saying and -- -- evil. -- -- an interesting. Yeah yeah. That's Federal Reserve Chairman. Mr. Boone county has welcomed widely -- request. The Federal Reserve's policies are systematically moving the country to -- -- ten point 1% of the population. The Federal Reserve has human. Tens of millions of people -- the -- the Federal Reserve is responsible for crimes against humanity. Centuries. Ago there yeah I would encourage you watch it will have the link to that YouTube video -- that in -- -- -- but it got kind of just a long. The list of of the crimes against humanity if instinct and we're not saying -- -- -- -- -- to -- it ends justify the means and that's where we find -- -- no matter what we're just -- now discussing sort of philosophically. The at least the sympathy factor right which is like anonymous at least you can get beyond it. The more you read about what is going on just in America setting aside the crimes of the rest of the world just the crimes against the citizens of America. Alone frankly I'm surprised that America's not an outright -- -- and there's anonymous has -- like we don't know how it can and they're bad English. Maybe it's it's an inching way to bring attention to issues yeah at the very very into the day they're dvi busses are like little red -- -- An ambient color as long as they stop there. But yeah I mean there's no question though that the response -- gonna grow right and and predicting you're gonna if even if I don't know if anybody has been arrested really is a member of anonymous and -- if they were legion and you cut up when hadn't and will grow back in whatever. But once if enough of them start disappearing down a hole in a journal what does not -- -- -- -- -- -- Yeah and now we wanna talk about other hacks on the IMF the international monetary fund's computer system may have been hacked. -- the hacking of it may have been backed by a nation state according security experts and when you start using words like that it doesn't mean that it was. You know some sixteen year old -- their teenager that there are other motivations potentially behind. Breaking into the International Monetary Fund system. Now they said that the sophisticated nature of the attack in the resources need to develop it. Help point them to that there was malicious software designed to steal confidential files that was installed on at least one of the IMF's computers. But the nature of its you know how specific it was and how it navigated through their network is what made them open their eyes look a little bigger. It was just like let's go and your server and to snoop -- let's go in target files. Upload and other places and -- you know and move them around. Via and they say that the information held by the IMF would be most valuable they think to a country. So that point strongly to the idea that instead of being -- a gang of hackers that it. Seems to suggest a nation state was behind whatever happened. Meanwhile though the IMF is not saying much at all in terms of what if any information had been compromised and -- -- some information with compromised there's nothing like. It is though the latest obviously in the series of high profile hacking incidents of any sort of wonder like how many I wanna make it diagram we need in. And photographic -- and we have light in photographic department when he and have a graphic team because we need to know because there's the -- there's there's attacks against. There's the anonymous style attacks which is -- -- Politically motivated DD -- -- against countries and or company and then there's lol thank rampaging. I'm predicting. You floor and look at her leg observe nobody and ultimately -- -- nuclear anyhow lol secondly you know lol I really. There's seventeen near your -- an -- are the bottom of the barrel part of that as they were like hey look at all these dot gov and dot -- email addresses you know your officials are looking up -- -- sorry. -- -- -- -- I'm -- Little or are they adult males. And -- -- emails to I'm just. Date and time that's -- I thought I. -- -- -- -- -- -- -- And then there's seems to be on then then it late tertiary to all of that they got the anonymous landing vehicle -- one that many seem to have. Potentially the ailing knees and say things like that's who created that matter -- -- and -- IMF and it's like let the other. Sort the South Korea North Korea -- you know North Korea potentially -- country's banking systems. You have a lot of you know. China's originating attacks coming to Google. Right you have all the things and now -- -- it's an interesting world out there and then there were in others. -- the story and these -- -- this weekend that -- like our hack attack on the increase U -- or is this just kind of like. That summer of the shark in elegant -- -- native and it seemed like there were way more shark attacks than usual there's when she first -- that analogy is like some of the shine but that's okay and tendencies like the way it's closed circuits I 80000 today I have a phobia coop them up. Add a little -- thing of the summer of the Charlotte you're really got -- there -- so scared sharks even its pupils meet. They're annoying if there's no one in the swimming -- I'm not gonna -- -- with a deep in the world all three of us here at least two of the three of us here are very educated people there are yet there are no sharks and according to a whole -- are said that the air but I imagine it's actually like. Materializing. In eating if I'm more scared of someone open in the pool and a -- and -- That don't yet know Bob Rubin of actually -- -- plans and -- children through them exaggerate the -- to turn in the tub in the pool and early 05. A good thing anyway we also -- TV and movie on. Then as we -- -- -- about go about it calling the unofficial digital currency of the Darknet. And since then -- is that we talked about it baffling bit -- -- big point is worth about 67 dollars I think. Since then. It has spiked up to thirty dollars at the end of last week that when times were trading for thirty -- -- like -- commitment to. But then over the weekend there was a -- big point. Like crash. And it went down to eleven dollars and -- that the market had like wild fluctuations. And is really interesting because apparently. Just on empty -- alone on Friday. Before the crash got really bad and -- -- is that the -- three combined trade. -- -- -- -- Thank you -- may actually Canada -- coin exchange site two million dollars US in -- -- were bought canceled. In over 5000 almost 6000 trades just on that one day and -- they were pointing out that over the past six months a total of nineteen million dollars US. Has -- -- has demonstrated a month but that -- specifically -- that day with up to two million and then have this huge -- actually potentially a lot of people -- lot of money. It's a really volatile market but -- -- the -- a really big money volatile market. Well its instinct you because people have -- so it there was also a big. Hit to the Dow Jones and our stock market that happened -- on the same day that people started pulling out. In the bit -- industry is well mean -- bit -- markets. Sending the money is all connected but you're seen -- clean kind of self correct itself what's one thing that's different about -- as though the trading happens nonstop it's not like there's an open and a close. -- -- -- console we have the -- today the fluctuations -- for friends of you know what people are selling doing happens throughout the day. So. It's it's fascinating and somebody in retirement is like like -- -- great. It's definitely not an effect personally I'm tired about the -- because I don't wanna -- -- -- in the nine email technology. And that's like right now they're saying it's around twenty dollars but it dropped but 3033%. The value -- that point just like that. Yeah you know a lot of people almost -- -- money men I think a lot of people that started early there'll you know there to them it's like a catch -- invest in -- stuff but. The -- that jumped on later after bit points I didn't like traction in the news and probably not too. Also I think possibly that -- -- them profit taking. A lot of people who bought it six were definitely selling -- announced that might have been partly that and and -- and interesting that it was also tied to like an actual stock market -- and that was passed in two and and by the way. I definitely don't think they claim is going away and I I think that frankly. That. Alternate -- in the -- probably just as real Obama. Money moving around stock market yeah I simply -- okay there are there web sites and services that are accepting it queens as we need to exchange goods and services you know we you we talked about the black market all that's. That's another issue with -- claim but it is alleged currency that is actively being used today via. And people considered to be potentially very dangerous -- wanna -- I have a bit point. That's as one have a few big points out on that I'm I downloaded the apps and everything in the Italian others he signatures that we need to make the transactions at the and a -- Just for -- and end -- about it and it also. I don't understand my -- the dark -- to leave me behind when the digital apocalypse -- de Lima common needs the money you need to diversify your portfolio might start farming. I would Serb Army missile -- powerful machines of combat that. I wouldn't take a quick break when we come back we're going to talk about alternate Internet. People potentially leaving FaceBook in two -- and laser shooting it gently. I really shooting -- and -- -- -- -- -- Welcome back to buzz out loud where were still discussing Lebanon -- can -- to the lasers -- will file we'll find out about -- -- -- more later. But back on -- -- the United States government -- a bomb initiation is leading a global effort to deploy a shadow Internet. And mobile systems that dissidents or people -- are you know our. Potentially -- bolted against their current government in the state that it is. They can use this shadow Internet to undermine repressive governments that are seeking to -- than we've seen a lot of instances where. The Internet was completely shut off. In many countries because that's the vehicle that people are using to organize you know their protest demonstrations over Egypt and Syria on Iran. This is the US is and -- Steen and has been investing. And putting State Department transport to treat this Internet network that would work offline so where things that they're currently -- now leased over. In -- all about in Afghanistan. They at least on US protected air bases they have towers and so they can use these towers kind of like a base station -- signal. That then connects to this. Secondary Internet. That's connected with other phones laptops I can get access but using in the US base has -- of the -- base station when that's one example. Of how these Internet these this dark -- networks. They spend at least fifty million dollars just on that independent cellphone network in Afghanistan alone. They've also finance the creation of these -- wireless networks in Iran CBS it's India. Syria and Libya and if they -- if they ever dates. Like Brad and Angelina feel if Libya. They say the effort is picked -- a lot of momentum since the government of Egypt shut down the Internet in that country during those protests and of course in recent days we know. The Syrian government has disabled most people's access the Internet there. And it's it's just that the Obama administration's. Initiative that they say is partly this longstanding diplomatic push to push to defend free speech. Energy democracy but it's also -- -- -- you you know potentially foment some of that unrest when they think it is politically expedient. -- what's the one issue one part of this whole thing that's really cool is they describe it like an Internet in a suitcase -- -- -- a computer that kind of can also act. And serve as a hub so the suitcase project it's gonna rely on what they call a mesh network technology and we're pretty much you take devices like your cell phones personal computers. And create an invisible wireless web without a centralized hub this Internet -- case. Would be kind of deployed to be the center of that. And the benefit obviously is that there's no central thing the consent and a double -- the -- BitTorrent model you know I mean its its decentralized. Access so there isn't someplace that you can go and set -- down one downside they say though is that the governments or the secret police could potentially use surveillance to sniff them out to sniff them out. If they're using that technology or just -- them bringing any kind of hardware across the border but because it is -- decentralized it's harder to control. Again -- insisting that. -- -- the United States is not only getting behind this but it it's kind of there's two ways you can look at this it's promoting. Their goal -- the velocity of free speech and other nations in using technology to take advantage of that but at the same time it's using that to. I don't I guess you could state -- -- or breakdown current governments and other countries right right because the politically -- amongst nations they still have to have you know. Diplomatic relationships and -- say where. Creating a developing a tool. To help with that free speech fine but really what is the main goal or purpose of these needs to get information. Com how organizers be able to still come together and protests or you know destabilize the government that's currently not working for the people there. Yet critics are definitely saying you can't necessarily say all we want is for people speak their mind we don't wanna bring dot audit autocratic -- -- the glacier is about it and think. It like -- -- the same thing you know it's and the US could be charged with the you know it. Or at least could be criticized as being hypocritical. If the State Department. Like maintain support for autocratic regimes like those in Bahrain or Saudi Arabia but then you know. Really I -- these -- -- networks to undermine him. Which I mean it would be let's be honest it would be naive to think that that our government is not trying to destabilize autocratic regimes that -- -- -- -- But it's just it's a fascinating technological story overall -- because some of it is the -- using technology developed by hackers. Or independent security analysts and in other cases -- does developing. Who knows what kind of cool -- County yet they use an example the story and this is a New York Times are you guys to check out -- the four page story without a lot of nations that are you know being challenged by the Internet being taken down. There's transferring you know they transfer contacts and files and pictures through Bluetooth we don't do that as much here because we have the Internet as the vehicle or the the high way to do that but there their transfer a lot of files over Bluetooth now the advantage of -- I -- a shadow network like this is. Those files that are now on transferred via Bluetooth from phone from one contact another can then be hooked up to that network and then distributed -- other places. -- Robert in the Sharon also points out that the initiative is designed to allow the USA to monitor activities of various groups which is also. Highly possible it -- there on your own little controlled USA network in your playing in your little sandbox deacon definitely. Monitor all their traffic and they. It's like. -- does what many think America does it's both good and. That's always good and evil they should just call US cellular some people just -- believe they were we have US cellular here just brought out there. The second Internet is US cellular. At least they Renault and I I don't let slightly less meeting is and it's like and it's being -- political show today has a lot of jerky in my mouth. They've put the U according to -- -- don't nordic volatile though isn't supposed to be no it's not -- it weird doesn't it that we L meaty I get eighty. Jerry and I'm particularly yes that it. Going to be a minute yeah -- stood up. But it still is just slow burn is that the public a grenade joke. -- -- According peer inside FaceBook dot com -- but big traffic drops in the US and Canada. Over the past few months and overall growth. Has been lower than normal for the second straight month which they -- -- highly and usual in the fifth of world because -- growth has been vehement. -- to the right. Does that mean like nothing like the -- When they went let's what the hockey stick -- like lake would you like when you have it like a chart you know and aggressively as the moon color hockey stick -- slowing Unix I've been hanging out -- filled the. I mean I haven't actually -- ethnic we needed info graphics though. You know. A lot of countries here in the US people are actually what they lost users of FaceBook they actually lost and that's what's so interesting is that not only. Did growth flatten. But that United States lost nearly six million users. Just in May balling from 155 point two million at the start of may 249. Point four million at the end of it and that's the first time. That the US has reported a drop in frequently users over the entire year. The -- about this also at the IPO -- and everything going on fire right now is although FaceBook has tons of has had tons of growth would just start to see things flat lining in the saturation point has already reached its mark. The value if your company is going to be a little less at the projections of like jumping up -- -- percent of recorder 20% 20%. -- you start slowing down and that's kind of one of the battles -- the fears of basement is gonna make billions of dollars K let's. Yet another way but -- valuation will be lower if things to start overall -- Well they pointed out that by the time FaceBook. Reaches about 50% of the total population of any given country online on FaceBook. Growth generally slows to a halt at the point at which they tend to plateau and it makes sense that at that point once -- plateaued. It's inevitable that you're gonna -- a little bit of a drop because may be like you pointed out earlier maybe. The -- of those six million users were bots. And they just abandon ship or button should -- people abiding people I do know people are now -- of -- but I know people who find it -- -- -- boring yet. It's getting boring and there's like all -- little. That'll let them. When calling MySpace used you know all the weird robots that serve me is gains coming out -- spam. And I love children but c'mon I'll need that every day updates about that your baby's progress -- in the plane. Have a friend who put the pictures maybe. Not. People. Buying it like every day -- watts like let's just stop it again. And that there on the -- interest -- -- -- -- my friend I don't -- -- you like you're actually -- chemicals actually act as well I'm talking to recognize that I I saw that first person ever have a baby in -- Get some time. The theory is blatantly sometimes would be able have a baby and I think -- the first person ever have a -- sadly all I do not. Music etc. that's totally true but only updates once and while cool every day now it doesn't make you wonder though I wonder you know like a fifth within a -- First or face a -- here let people move on to something else with more -- staying -- And -- -- at least some people -- who did say like you know about it I'm not only used by enemy like -- on -- amount. The -- if all of my friends suddenly went somewhere else. I'd -- go to link it's not like it nobody is that loyal to any free service online you know it's just that -- and respond if. Our transit seem to get ready for -- at the Apple block. I cloud communications is suing Apple for trademark infringement the VoIP service provider I cloud communications. Says yes that was our name personnel obviously Apple was probably expect in this nowadays -- they wouldn't of done this they Apple had acquired or purchased the URL from a different -- cloud service that was on the Internet. As offerings -- most similar things but at the Arizona based VoIP provider has filed a suit. One of the terms that they say is that the implications. Was though they contend that the use of apt that name Apple's I cloud name the product has impacted. Their business negatively. And there is via -- they both have you know VoIP aspects but here. I cloud communications. Uses VoIP. I cloud Apple doesn't yet it's kind of the -- -- hold your music and -- and content. Yeah we'll see it Gillis the -- the -- -- are in counselor point of there was another -- cloud service using the same name. Which also tends to undermine I cloud. -- the new -- service that suing Apple. Only the fact that they not only their relatively. They admit -- like I cloud. It is not the most original -- came up with frequent service that doesn't only have the strongest it's ever been in I'm sure that I'm -- Apple and little -- -- you're -- something like I cloud communications is actually gonna benefit from this because -- -- -- people may not be intensely searching for when -- type and -- -- they're gonna see their name like I did not know I cloud communications. Even existed before the story. Yeah I mean -- right but I'm not surprised that someone called iPod did. Well and we've seen Apple what -- -- is throw a big fat chunk of money data that's of the iPhone again to the iPad and in the companies like. While we're happy there's -- and now we're sorry they're gonna make growing pressure. Apple this is -- this is -- like silently -- Apple OS-X lion will let users reboot. Into safari. Chrome books. -- -- -- Now that is totally. Meaning -- it's partly for security. When you let people restart your system in this apart your effectively placing web browser into a sandbox so if you've got some security concerns. You can boot with just the ability to surf the web I also wonder if that is the way that -- -- -- -- download. If your system get corrupt. And you need to re download -- -- Maybe a reality appoint governor that -- UW and have access -- gaps or because it sounds like it's strictly just. The browser now like for use in media school or library. Which makes it easier and -- locking down all these apps -- Axis of the files you could use it for a portal -- Happy shops and it and maybe it can simulate faster and easier to just booted that that have been involved with them in its -- users -- rather crow. As that your. Other Apple rumors that got a little -- here of Apple stuff there are rumors that the US will get an unlocked iPhone for. Option on Wednesday it and rumors. Final what's Apple gonna release on Wednesday someone was like starting all MacBook Air is coming Wednesday it has signed back out like come -- let's and it was like some. -- I I really feel like someone really mean -- -- but it appears that Apple might release an unlocked iPhone four. Also one argument that it could help them went with -- AT&T T-Mobile merger is one of the things that sprint pointed out is that because of their exclusivity. Of the iPhone or specific hardware you know it would help them to dominate even more but -- -- offered unlocked iPhone that can use on -- and other carriers and you it would help out but right now the spectrum that supports wouldn't run on T-Mobile wouldn't fully support T-Mobile three G -- Yeah exactly although people have been for years unlocking their -- on anyway and is living with at and T-Mobile -- -- Lincoln actually more reliable but. -- thing -- also an iPhone news apparently when the final space shuttle mission launches later this year. You iPhone four hours will be on board iPhone -- Any experimental -- -- space lab for IOS. And once the Space Shuttle Atlantis docked with the International Space Station crew members -- the iphones to connect for experiments using their cameras gyroscopes and other sensors. And then also apparently this step by step instruction. Or the experiments are contained within the app that astronauts wouldn't need printed instructions to direct and they say they're pretty sure it's the first -- -- this. Yeah it's you guys didn't even if you want to experiment and try the site yourself space lab for IOS available as a download for one dollar. So are really yeah you can't use of course you there -- certain things like simulating. You know no gravity and how the excel -- gyroscope measure that some day some of the features will be stimulated as -- -- because. There's gravity here just having -- desperate bid to -- points out that in case you're wondering yes the iPhone will be placed into airplane mode before. At a concert at the list. Also being next iPhone the one that we did not see announced -- WW DC -- -- with an iPhone I know I thought oh skip that started I don't know. So let's give it a -- scares the sorry guys can't -- that phone next cycle reaches final test -- Verizon likely will support three -- facetime -- done. We need to tighten it. Leading to -- quick hit exactly. According to analysts Nomura. Analyst Nomura. Samsung will become the world's largest Smartphone maker this quarter. Overtaking. Nokia which -- -- the lead since 1990s. That's a big deal also they see on Apple overtaking them later on two. Number three in the rankings end. HTC to match Nokia during 2012 ACC has just taken off they're really hands are based on their projects and predictions. Of in other phones we manufactured. Nokia death watch cricket -- -- -- -- Though that burns it in the joints I thought this could fit again I love the Missouri -- over the past -- -- the -- that weekend. There was a big freedom of information request filed for all of Sarah Palin. Good emails official emails when she was serving as governor of Alaska now the state of Alaska. Oral some -- then determines that it would be unfeasible. And time it difficult to release all of those emails. Digitally so instead they released 24199. Pages. Of emails actual -- yet exactly like the biggest. Three -- I'm sorry I left it as of the most blatant retailing -- -- in years but anyway. Then they're not surprisingly journalistic organizations are turning -- The Internet and it's like -- behavior is to help out so -- -- to crowd source. All of these emails and there have -- -- there -- like a live blog those people has uncovered different things but they've -- think it's gonna scan at all and invite people. As it tried -- Digg -- for news. It's just cut its hilarious New York Times -- -- put up they've invited readers to review and comment on the on the whole. Thing and it's a -- they're they're like the only way we're ever gonna get her point 4000 pages of email that timely fashion is the -- turn -- over to the Internet. The colors in it's (%expletive) there's gonna there's a lot of people with a lot of time on their hands right now unfortunately in the economy and what better way to give back to your fellow man -- to search through. 24000 pages of Palin emails left that I mean really -- like it couldn't be a better idea to give this to that. Digg community youth with data porn -- it has -- off I'd imagine not a lot like when you're reporter -- -- and Atlantic you've got like. 44000. Archives to go through you're gonna go through looking for really really silly and stuff you know but nobody can parse. Information like the Internet alcoholic who know that's gonna get out of it now. -- Although B one of those people to help in the effort delivery let me be that like 1000001. -- that -- really Alaska. Really. Really and also in our last quake hit Amazon has decided to cut -- -- in more of their states. Over taxes the company announced to letters into their Billiton Friday that Connecticut and Arkansas. Will be removed from their pilot program -- a lot of these states are trying to collect taxes from Amazon but does that. -- likely if -- don't happen actual warehouse in those locations at the art you know. They bailed out the all the tax laws of that state yet that there are factored. And you know it's hurting a lot of small business -- -- that you lot of stuff on him so it definitely is adding Amazon hoping that the affiliates in the small businesses will code and that local governments and right now and and then and now in now. Yet already terminated solar similar agreements include states like Illinois Colorado North Carolina Rhode Island. And they you know -- -- others as well -- Only a lot of money with that though. Yeah they definitely -- and ever done. I think Amazon went a little bit Karbala yeah -- and -- like it or not it's not cool to shut -- the affiliate programs and I think. They're doing it because they're hoping there'll be enough of a backlash that the governments will repeal but come on the Federal Reserve has ruined America. But as has our giant. They can't like they can't host businesses that can't have everybody doing other shopping online not -- -- -- -- now. Just within -- state and -- -- have a little fun thing is way cooler. Scientists have merged light emitting protein from jelly fish. With a single. Human cell to create a unique first. A living biological laser and. It does not -- your pew pew -- do you wanna do that. The laser requires few elements material that Apple -- likely to gain medium and what they did. Is they used. The jelly fish protein rate this Green fluorescent protein. That makes jellyfish by a -- in essence that act as that reflector -- It's the beginning of superheroes. And we're gonna have people shooting lasers out of hand I don't jelly fish and man we. -- -- that -- electricity we have. Bugs that glow in the dark. Matter. By an attic yes feeds right into the net the phobia conversation from earlier show that only -- -- though it guys just you know the little down near the laser beam is tiny and week. Compared to traditional lasers -- the article. Yes and most importantly the cell would not harmed in -- and I I don't think that's. That jelly -- was either no jellyfish are -- experiment is tiny and weak but if it's still an order of magnitude brighter than natural jellyfish fluorescence with a beautiful Green Kelly I mean it's always been. And I started -- -- the -- they're pretty beam of light. And then and with sharks and forget -- that the death it's a biological laser though create an amazing and -- about the minor. I -- and on that on that happy note. Let's -- unhappiness. Are we kind of weird we love the front -- -- this is sent to us buy it from Leo. Hot pot -- -- duke by duke. Well I it anyway Leo wrote that has basically job -- at some site called -- hipster dot com. And the company I guess that's called hipster. And they're trying to cut their target. Here's we can tell if it. They're trying to create a repository of hipster -- -- utilities -- -- -- and specifically in San Francisco like -- offices are right next account trains according to this app and then. In order overnight but that is -- -- -- being announced -- than other jobs page is like we're hiring a Lyra -- and -- could win 101000 dollars a year's supply PBR and so much more they can be offering basically a hipster make over which I can I just highly encourage you all not to. You're talking about cell phone retail outlets and now -- good retail outlet would. Show a customer all the options available to them and I strongly disagree with that. The average customer. Would be overwhelmed by all the options available to them I think that goods salesman is going to pick out one or two possibly three options. -- better cater to that particular customer and present those options to them kind of make recommendations that's -- sales person's job. Now if I was Microsoft right now I would be starting from the ground up thinking what can I do to incentivize the sales person to want to sell -- -- -- -- Night good -- now I do need to make it clean we did say okay in a perfect world via idea. Mechanically the first time nailed is what it really -- their dislike. -- they don't have the confidence from our retail perspective that it's gonna sell and that there because they don't wanna get a monster returns -- they don't think it's good and they might not be given the benefit of the doubt anymore you know Jason is though he's a smart got out retail because a lot of times you have the manufactures incentivized. The retail customers like. Sell X amount of our phones and you get like -- 200 dollar kickback in your paycheck. Totally -- there are ways to get retail people motivated to do these things and I agree Microsoft definitely needs acerbic -- of -- -- -- the kiosks seriously. Then the day though you cell phone that's gonna -- industry tests are not a phone that's gonna get you 200 -- man and also a phone that sells and won't be coming back. And now.
