CNET News Video: Cooking apps for a tasty Thanksgiving

1:02 /

Preparing Thanksgiving dinner can be a daunting task, even for the most experienced home chef. No one wants an undercooked turkey and overcooked green beans. In this Tech Minute, CNET's Kara Tsuboi serves up several handy apps that will ensure your Thanksgiving dinner turns out perfect and on time.

The very first Thanksgiving app you should download is the free Thanksgiving dinner coach from Chao, one of CNET's sister networks. The app offers the quintessential recipes for classic holiday dinner. Select what you'd like to make and it will build a shopping list for you and then break out the prep step by step to guarantee all of your dishes are done at the same time. Genius. Next, check out chicken pad timer, a $2.00 app for iOS devices that offers nine different timers that managed multiple dishes cooking on your stove and oven. Don't bother guesstimating-done-this, know for sure what accuracy. And finally, everyone loves Thanksgiving leftovers. But before making that turkey sandwich, make sure it's still safe to eat with a $0.99 leftovers app. This reference guide breaks down food safety, how long different items keep and gives guidelines for reheating. Have a delicious and safe holiday meal. In San Francisco, I'm Kara Tsuboi, CNET.com for CBS news.
