>> Welcome to CNET Top Five where each time we meet we count down another hot CNET list. I'm Tom Merritt and we thought we'd help you narrow your list down a little bit. Let's count down the top five holiday gift categories for the technologically minded. At number 5, a TV and not just any TV, a big screen high-definition awesome TV; LCD, Plasma, DLP, no matter what kind their eyes will get wide just to try to fit the picture in their field of view. Coming into number 4, a DVR, you know like a TVO. Give your gift getter a way to pause live TV and record their favorite shows and a lot more time to spend with you. Up to number 3, a camera. We used to call it digital cameras but almost all cameras are digital these days so make sure the nice folks on your list have the latest and greatest. Sliding into number 2, a music player; yeah sure it can be an iPod but it can also be a Creative or an Archos; whatever you give them the ability to carry around their song library will have them singing your praises. Before we get to number 1 let's check in quickly on the worst gift ideas. Printer paper? You shouldn't have; you really shouldn't have. All right. Let's get to our number 1, the top category for gift giving. At number 1 it's a game console. Pick the right one for the right person and they'll be in heaven. Sony PS3 and Xbox 360 are great for serious gamers and the Nintendo Wi is excellent for pretty much everyone. You can't really go wrong here. Well that's it for this edition of CNET Top Five. If you want particular suggestions within each category, check out our holiday gift guide at holiday.cnet.com. I'm Tom Merritt, see you next time.
