And what the hammer down -- 2011 Corvette ZO six. -- -- show everybody. It is cnet's car tech live war what is -- 48 of October. We're already agree -- -- That your favorite holiday yet. Are you gonna go and Lebanon are well let me Weatherly on the show -- bumblebee transformer -- -- point what I would you be. Actually I'm gonna be Speed Racer but you really yeah got to get speakers are -- -- and so what components go into how white helmet read them on it. -- shirt GE's. Bird go go. You monkey go with I do I do not have straddle. Attention next gives him red spiral with the little brother little boy adult brother who was -- -- the those girlfriend Patrick the reason you're -- -- Yeah okay well my favorite cartoons -- breaker finally got a after many many years telling -- -- are costing together. Oh we were down at the for you with the LA auto show a couple years ago they had the a mockup of the sparkled again -- -- -- five for the movie. Right couldn't get away that of that part of mashup that he can go back that you -- -- -- a -- -- -- -- -- five. -- -- -- -- -- -- -- Technically their right. Good to have -- suitable on the mach five wealthy guys that put that Chrysler press conference later you're gonna that's interesting yeah. -- all right excellence I'm. I'm going categories going as anything and jewels but let's get -- -- sell it to see what's the card it's most likely to scare you not because it's. Halloween scary because it leaves you stuck on the side of the road. Chrysler Town & Country out -- Consumer reports came out -- -- this is their predictions for how reliable that 2011 models will be. -- -- these predictions on a survey they do. Survey of cars from 2001 to 2010 models. And they they basically just asked lot of owners that one point three million owners to date about. Problems they've had their cars. And they've come up with a list of what they what they think the 2011 model will show up as and yet Chrysler Town & Country came up as the predicted worst model. Of all cars this is including audio imports and large cars and small cars and domestic and what they've done here is they rank they can do it a rank of a -- -- -- -- manufacturer. And within that they rank which of their cars will do the best and the worst of the town and country not only is Chrysler the lowest ranked brand. For having the most week models reliability but the -- countries the worst of those models. The 300 is the best but doesn't mean it's really reliable -- And year over year Chrysler only dropped one point says they've been down for awhile that bit on the ground for a -- -- took a huge it. -- -- seven points yeah a lot a lot of people are finding problems and they're saudis. And -- of their looking at data Audi a six that three point -- Turbo -- considering that's by the the worst model yet security got an Audi a 63 point OT and these are this is predicted for 2011 global embassies those polled people about cars that were. In the market already the 2010s. Let us note here 863 point OT has been crap. What's that about that the best cars though for reliability. On amazingly silence on. It is. Put it actually is not in the top five -- Lexus that I it was mid pack -- -- of -- those that unintended acceleration. Issues problems it is appalling consumers there's a consumers are you know their mind is being influenced propriety imagining. More vividly problems of their car because of the -- but Davidge cleanup that the -- XP's. Is the the best the best most reliable miles -- you wanna carnival never quit on you ever -- XXP is the way to go up -- box there is also really good at 9/11 is weaker in the airline up but still -- had a big jump of six points going the right direction. While Audi almost of the same level of drop the other direction and of course the related companies of that kind of interest -- Acura Honda Infiniti also make in the top five. Not too much of surprise Japanese maker in Japanese brands -- usually having a good quality marks BMW down there at the top the lowest. Actually the five from the bottom -- -- third. Out of 27 as BM WM three is the best 135 -- apparently what -- trouble at their least we'll reported model with a new model in the market. Anyway those are the consumer reports numbers on the best and worst cars out there. A little -- -- -- those ring a bell would you email Oskar tech at cnet.com if you've got one of those with a sea of bad one that's been bad for you -- you know. Even we talk about the cards are most -- -- -- -- the percentage numbers are pretty small when it happens -- It doesn't matter now the cardinals -- -- you is one thing the -- to a ticket. It's arguably worse especially for us. As we multiply that likelihood around here. We've got a piece here that we saw The Wall Street Journal about some researchers -- -- recently done based on looking at the actual trends of what it's ticketed. Well -- do you think. If you had looked at this would you say is the most likely get to a ticket. -- viper who are blind yeah very likely mean ornament -- mimic that margin but they did you decide to -- -- new car yeah. Mr. Kennedy Acura Integra in Australia got that got -- boy racer I'm gonna go flout the law and about a what I can Mitchell would you -- They're giving -- a car that -- -- great. -- -- -- -- -- -- Wipers to hot right -- the arena I haven't read by. And it's and he rated superpower -- -- it turns out the most ticketing cars the Mercedes SL. Interestingly enough -- not too surprising that it is kind of performance oriented -- instrument -- -- old guy you know. But not that the convertible so maybe that's the V8 convertible. But of -- -- those go by and they have those those license plate frame from those. Places where you donate to the police benevolent society of 1199 foundation that those frames on that they -- they can avoid a ticket because that's the theories you're big you get the plate frames and at least -- California called 119 -- amateurs national what. I use -- for a for -- -- in California and if you don't -- larger assortment of money you get. Honored as being a member of this the license plate rain you get is not supposed to -- -- for technical. With their opinions by -- he's sitting right next to you also have taken great -- I wonder that the morbid Dreifort then no vehicle they know it certainly is a lot was like that -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- But it's just it's always been kind of on a sleeper -- -- Tuesday that car has always been popular with an older demo and sign -- want it. Yeah it's a lot of younger buyers but they have a lot like 45 -- the buy that argument that the voice -- -- stoppage -- ruining our brand image or you'll people stop buying this car I'm gonna work and get in and you TC and just just for you oh good. Perfect -- I'm in their demo -- of that car hello. -- least ticketed Buick Rainier which -- it made -- more would bullet overeat at the look at it's -- -- And Kia Spectra. Also discontinued using two no longer made cars are the least likely -- -- in trouble Specter. I don't understand how I guess I got an agreement had a -- at least likely the other picture yet that makes it look like it in Cuba with eaten that that's what department this is done by -- -- -- quality planning which is an analytical from the for the insurance industries so they just took a look at a whole bunch of take it. Writing history and really crunched the numbers that give you some idea of going they'll put a link to that story in the show -- that it would -- -- more of it. We talk a lot about fuel economy around here there's been a lot of changes in the last year -- between ten. In the cafe corporate average fuel economy new rules came with the Obama administration really ratcheting up efficient cars that view of the next few years but. Not that in there about trucks. Which just changed looks like -- going for the next few months there is going to be a adoption of new rules. As a partnership EPA knits the highway traffic safety administration and the White House to. Crack down on the fuel guzzling and emissions spewing a big trucks whether -- semis. Garbage trucks. Liquid tankers but interestingly for our discussion includes heavy pick -- Heavy duty pickups and full size -- which normally have been qualified as light trucks and not in the same. Efficiency category when you think that's to be low hanging fruit actually as far as us. Decreasing oil usage yeah the big trucks for one -- and there's gotta be a lot of efficiency technology you can put in those things -- -- big pickups. And I mean just go from a B six to be eight and nobody can notice the difference. -- -- six yeah yeah. The the thing what's happening here is they say could cost up to 245 to 14100 dollars per heavy duty pick up or -- That has to be added on for these technologies. Which you are a variety of technologies lot of things to be direct injection. Lowering friction things have been -- -- cars already. That's a lot of additional MS RP. The owner has to somehow get that back in fuel savings the additional cost for a tractor trailer -- over 6000 dollars is likely. But they say it will save the average owner operator of a semi -- something like -- I read this right 74000. Dollars in fuel over the typical lifetime of the big rig but those last a long time. And those those things -- -- the road for -- for decades in some cases are very durable vehicles they're also driven pretty much every day for many many -- -- on the road all the time you can earn back the additional money for the efficiency technique cost it that way and it's much harder for a you know a contractors pick up. The -- driving a super duty or you know one of the big Graham's one of the commercial -- Anyway this is coming down the pike if your radio trial lot of people in our audience drive heavy. Eddie consumer vehicles the full size vans big trucks dodged ranchers that kind of thing not necessarily semis we -- we hear all the time from he went you guys talk more about you know. Heavy duty pickups in the real work trucks that -- rivals is coming down your Michael what we'll keep anonymous for. -- just got back from a tour of the Tesla plant not the -- they're using now the big one there -- about to light up what agency. Not much has a lot of and if you -- people floor space on the factory. -- Tesla just took the keys. Got the keys to the new me plant the former IGM Toyota. A plant and damn it. Not a lot of stuff in there right now we've got a two or on the walked us around of the name on the side of this got the -- yet they unveiled this new huge sign on the side of the thing big giant tussle letters -- from space censure. For they had CEO Elon Musk there and PayPal do -- yeah I got it from PayPal and senator Dianne Feinstein to launching the thing that. -- a lot of but the job that this could bring to the area or rather than shutting down the the current plan is is -- about 5000 jobs -- dead -- is currently -- Employed about seventy people there to get the thing up to yet. Netspective -- building cars and they should about 500 people online. When they're actually building the cars. We get lot of walker on the space that and gathered there BP of that manufacturing. Told us that they they really lucked out with this plant actually. -- it's fully functional plan I was they have to build -- assembly lines but building something like this from scratch would cost. Hundreds of millions of dollars. About the thing for 42 million. -- -- -- It's a middle -- they're also buying equipment from play -- -- left over the letters or only want nobody else really wants. So they're getting deals all around binding stamping now plants -- is stamping mills and and that paint shops and things like that. -- just just saving millions of dollars -- in this thing but when they start producing the model lesson when he twelve they'll only be using about -- when he percent of the factory. It their mom yet just a corner and it's gather they're gonna -- ball 80% of the factory until they can hopefully expand into that. Area does -- -- plant that that once was under GM Toyota turning out badge engineered cars and now in its gonna take a long time for even Tesla to grow into. Five point five million square feet. That's yet that it's a real big plant will think about you know. We don't realize how big auto plant is given -- -- walking tour of one of the so it was a pretty big one as I understand and they are cranking out that -- -- in Tacoma -- -- up until April this year. That recently and another and so grow obviously huge production on map point -- around to use though. And they can produce the you know when he cars out of there -- them pencils definitely gotten a lot of room to the unobtrusive. That model just better be a hit it's gonna be lonely and told him there -- -- cool. Things they did have to buy this aluminum stamping mail because that acquitted in use aluminum -- body panels. But this is a massive thing they -- from a Detroit from a company in Detroit that -- that's used equipment that that they're getting shipped to this planned to union that. X sixty train car yes insisted on train yet yet engine in many pieces and -- this is this is the kind of thing where. You know Detroit's. Distressed that put a lot of machine tools on the market which you know. It's totally a huge industry in itself. Is gonna be here yet is based on that thing right there it has purchased asset that big old machine is right there yeah that's -- stamping -- actually of metal are. -- -- okay so that's the kind of thing -- -- these huge presses. You does Detroit companies and suppliers have been shutting down some going out of business and liquidating their machinery. A lot of it's gonna end up here though ecosystems story there. Well speaking of efficient cars. Or just put on a new website to educate folks about electric cars of all kinds and a detective that of the -- here. It's called Ford vehicles slash technology slash -- electric cooled the battling it in the show notes but. They explain all the different kinds of new coming cars starting with traditional gas engine we have now in your mouse over to hybrid -- When you mouse over to plug in hybrid easy. -- your mouse over to all electric. What's missing here. Range extender. Further concern the volt doesn't exist that there's no such thing as arrangements that its electric proper for doesn't think there such thing. It takes that was an inconvenient truth for. -- -- If you wanna know every kind of electorate by car except the Chevy Volt runs a purpose for -- -- great animations beautiful cut away is but. Part of the picture it's missing here I mean in light of news -- to mean you could probably just scramble. To. A pretty -- year plug in hybrid. Well written the copy there though and what they say it's like under plug in hybrid they say Alicea. Will operate entirely on gasoline entirely young collectors the year combination of both of us who are the gasoline engine operation for plug in hybrid TV -- -- powers vehicle at higher speeds shuts off the -- speed -- vehicle is stopped. So is that our understanding of the -- as of -- gate. Or is that it's really not -- -- as vehicle at higher speeds shuts off of those speeds in the vehicle is stopped. I'm deductible. You could -- -- and you could argue it mean you don't consider high speed to be fit and now our greater. And yeah right that's that's that's that we learned last week is the -- does get some direct engine -- sorts. It's a little bit murky in my mind but. Yeah I guess they would called a plug. Hybrid TV but you know they could call that range extender they did and it's not really what they're talking about -- no -- -- any -- they say there's an engine running to generate. It's very very KG of they've kind of incomplete and Canada. So. City. -- -- Ford says yeah they're a floor fuel cell vehicles in here. You're gonna vote on the market these electric yeah now. There aren't you know battery toward cars even in an electric I mean I guess they -- seems like they're focusing on what they're gonna do you know what they're gonna do exactly. But the with the media public information initiative like this -- -- I don't wanna be all encompassing new now. But the mission. Let's take a look at what's going on that -- is the auto -- thing for folks have been watching the general motors' OnStar control apps. That are coming to the bold and other cars in which they had that and there's -- and graft that on now. This looks -- really cool it's that by company called -- is on technologies. And you took a little device that here -- the -- -- port in your car and every car from 1996 on has some. Yup that's right and with the app on your Smartphone as they don't say which Smartphones yet I don't believe that the show an iPhone in the picture. You can control lot of aspects of your car such as lock and unlock the doors remotely. Possibly even sort of the engine remotely and if that. You'll -- -- supported through Adobe -- to port. I will get it you know we don't know much about this right now they just an initial -- Will hopefully it'll look at this that yes -- early next year -- -- comes out okay because this to be agree hackable way to get car control. At the same time having plugged into a bunch of movie B port on a bunch of different cars like in -- being. And a piecemeal. In any you don't really get the theme being in every car so means you'll really be Hartman and advertise things like -- -- you can unlock your doors. On these cars are you know act on these cars you know you may not be able to do that yeah it seems like there's. Because there's the window media they've very loose standard -- in the same way that Bluetooth yes like -- standard it's a tool yeah more than a standard basic via the says protocols that you may or may not implement or and then there's -- -- look a lot of this kind of open protocols like the -- channeled into their -- you -- on -- -- great for the for the DIY person yes this being a lot more fun to play with than trying to -- But -- this and -- void the warranty on my -- exactly. But then think for casual consumer -- in William's gonna by the thing and the able to pop a lot -- -- -- -- Not gonna happen I think you'll be able to do anything yeah no yeah trust in China so are -- -- get -- information to the the the one downstairs really it has like a limited data feed yet. It doesn't even have code and enough channels to get an accurate fuel economy ratings. That's that's our little -- that in 0607 that's -- little yellow. One thing about the -- thing this device about as well as I think the device. The next year port to your -- to port will have to send out a signal to you like cellular data yeah connection to connect your phone. So that's gonna be -- somewhat substantial fee actually yet so where's the fee structure in this that I know the Apple be free. Analysts -- -- some sponsored thing with having could be highly offensive there gonna have to charge you for the and activity or it's built into the price like you buy Kindle you'll pay for connection it's built of the one time price of the use of buried in data the against the could do -- with the -- something like. To yet it says notebook to a -- phone. It does say that drivers can think information with their home computer use in -- cloud based account. Velocity engine or. -- -- -- that -- this thing's gonna be the perfect way to grow your own connected Smartphone carcass -- we -- -- things like this before right to be the first of its kind. To let you actually -- it's adding Arnold I'd like functionality any car exactly. Traffic land which I'd never heard of -- apparently the largest aggregators of live traffic video camera feeds in the US. Yeah well it is got to deal with -- steal americans' interest in this deal of the major major supplier of car tech to the OEMs. And someone at the retail level not much mostly dealer installed stuff like drop down rear seat entertainment systems and stuff like that. But they're now going to work in these live camera -- from this traffic land company into iPhone iPod Touch and iPad apps so this is really a big push. Not the first -- a big push to integrate live camera feeds along with the other data you get on maps. Obviously a lot of map data now with traffic and that's common in -- today -- on portable devices. But you don't really get a chance to look at the traffic cameras do you mean it's easy traffic data another. They're right you can do to own your own yeah and -- -- duplicate snaps but on the map -- the -- we -- -- we can click on traffic incident at night on video that it fell Milliken and overly with and -- -- yet here's the camera here. Known of them that the Disco at the the -- that will integrate traffic cams and traffic incidents on a map together. They have nineteen cities that are already lined up in this project. And they say to have this lined up for future in vehicle infotainment systems -- sounds like OEMs stuff the -- by. As part of a new car -- we'll -- -- -- can make in the early announcement here mr. heads up on Mac. A QX recently purchased by -- The folks who make the Blackberry showed off a couple things that what was called the SAE convergence. Conference which went on just a few days ago. Interesting because they were talking about terminal load an Apple iPod out -- which we've talked about being pretty early stuff right now. We have a little video clip that they put up about what this might look like here's a Corvette demo -- they did it's a little hard to see but if you look at the attack on the left. They've got this big there is -- -- X logo down there -- modify the instrument panel. Do you have a a different display on the left side. On attack which can become a video panel. Which receiving cart before the hoping the video mail to steal an attack it looks just like the original Corbett -- but they've taken those out and it put an LCD instead. And then whenever you hook up your device this is showing for example an echoing of the nab routine that's been on your Smartphone being pulled up on the screen. Of the car -- well. And they also put in a video here which is pretty snappy and listen to it because it's. But you know it's it's a hard sell with put -- that way. I'm very happy looking guy out of their parking lot but it does show this is the eighties there Leo -- -- marketing manager -- what looks like that. But they do show how this a -- out an iPod Al mode. Is gonna really start to echo the displays on the app into the card -- mean really faithfully. They obviously shall Blackberry because they'll -- -- my Blackberry. -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- Deviancy -- -- machine and -- Interface. That hit kikwit itself we'll put a link to this video very seeming to look at listen to the audio it's gonna detailed but for our crowd it's fascinating how it truly echoes the Smartphone interface right after the death -- seeing a lot of -- bubbling up around from places. Before you go on now we're gonna come back and talk about how the twelve -- -- through the car stereo stores. They don't get Apple they're just afraid of it and -- -- talking to us about the first mashup of its kind. Of a GPS device and something else that's never been in the same. Box that -- comin' up as CNET car tech lab continues. And scenic Arctic -- back -- -- here on this 28 of October Thursday edition wrapping up a month here. Brian Cooley Wayne Cunningham and Antuan Goodwin Mitchell -- at the controls. This was just -- more of oh god than anything else I was reading this piece here in C outlook and it was just this little article about they've pulled a couple of owners and managers of major electronics car electronics chains around the country. And asked them what you think about the idea of a seven inch iPad would that really dramatically impact the automotive aftermarket of the words -- folks say I don't need a car head unit anymore but it's gonna bring a seven inch iPad. When whatever kind of dock will be on the market and that's good. The iPad is a little bit. You can do it lot of folks -- must say well. That's more than you can -- that's right immune to blocks out to retrieve your -- registers. -- HVC control of the big old piece of realistic yeah it really depends on the card have a -- sports development. I mean you can also wounded -- of -- -- layer on top that it working hugely of the nice shiny screens to make sure that Apple's -- -- Apple screen. There's -- couple quotes here they were talking here -- gentlemen from Ken -- Keith Lehmann says -- seven -- iPad would be a total game changer. He said he's glad Steve Jobs says they're not going to do a seven inch. As I'm grateful that Apple isn't there are great technologies that were great with the products we have now we don't need this business model hitting us at this time -- other -- -- -- the accessory integration space. As though they 25. Android avenues. There's a bunch rebels that are coming to the market now very soon you we just got the Samsung galaxy tab in a couple days ago here and I mean those would. Have Google Maps and -- -- navigation enemy in Philly YouTube that would probably have a bigger impact. Because as having a lot problem is human have to buy a human to buy an actor going -- -- -- kind of expensive. Right now we have a compared to a good do it all ahead unit yeah. Not a bad value not really the other one here is. This guy from sixth avenue electronics I don't know what that's -- but they said. There's not a retailer in the country that can survive if Apple gets into this business but the traffic is do we hope accessories will be what they were for the iPod. -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- That way if the product requires some kind of installation. That's a good thing. If it's a self -- that wouldn't be good for us -- let me take sides don't count on that. -- the uses -- bring yourself DIY era. And that I mean I know I have one friend who uses an iPad -- type -- and -- car. And it just -- route to the -- politics are that double -- bill -- you just stick it on that looks great delete takes it out. Will mean whatever it yet -- wait you know measure whether. A clean install is worth it you beneath some people are gonna want charger cable and in around and yeah on the artillery -- -- cable laying in around and then. They don't wanna hit a bump and have their eye pitfall in crack on the shift here but it's funny -- there there -- You know. Pros and cons to that beneath them people is gonna go well -- -- about dollar cable and -- room. To stick it on the north side of the dash and if I hit something in the airbag -- well we get an iPad my -- The problem is that -- Have to have them through replace your at it into radio and his move cars have that auxiliary input now but on older cars -- really gonna have that option -- -- have yet and and the and and your own thing yet comfortable way to to have it interface for the speakers does not built. Yeah -- -- at the audio and all you have that talks or right there isn't anything to get the Apple. Note connector outs to we have prisoner's dock legally -- work. No the and I don't know there. I think Apple's. When -- with two. The iPhone that -- It's the an object that -- It used to be able to -- violent a dock for your iPod classic and the RCA's on enough developing Leo okay. -- -- says yes there's an Avian component out so -- there's an -- component out via an Apple dongle I assume. I've actually looked at the VG -- -- prevail anyway. It's interesting how this is you know this is scaring the full board industry yet -- yet yet to spokesman chip incident -- -- okay yeah. So on this gets back to the terminal mode in the iPhone out -- we were talking about that's another way to get that -- into the head unit but the mobile industry doesn't get it. -- -- -- they're getting it from both sides because. I mean they're already have -- problems just. Filling ingredients in -- because. It's harder to install of stereo now yeah oh yeah away our you know you buy a Prius -- you know flop and that stereo well because -- -- -- and everything yeah out of the mean it. And and then also with with other vehicles you know you're running into the the other issues with integration with streets -- the -- Non standard oh yeah and -- yeah it does -- you're there. Kind of didn't beat up pretty bad right now and and -- it comes along just goes you're totally obsolete. That is as good -- -- we know we just think you should come by accessories from us -- let us install your -- what -- carried it in the car that's my installation I'm done. On and I just by I sense a lot of -- tree in this in this -- -- -- the first time I've -- From the global bazaar like no no we're gonna be the accessory integration sort -- -- -- future and you better do better than that you -- becoming Apple retailers are some. Let's see we've got new combination of GPS and radar and one. Yes this is escort they make. Half court line of radar detectors. And they coming other feet wet in GPS. With they have AM rearview mirror that had integrated GPS device and it and then they often didn't GPS security system. But this passport IQ. -- their first standalone portable navigation device and it's got pretty much the internals of their top of the line nanny 500 IX and crammed in there in Canada so it'll it'll navigate it'll. -- It'll I guess what you know when you're getting hit with radar laser yeah and then it'll also allow you to do and both of those things at the same time kind of overlaying. Read our information over the map or -- interest detailed radar information. So here it is with the front screen with three basic functions look at the map or look at the detector settings with the picking up. Or use -- now which I imagine is gonna emerged altogether the and that's the first right yeah evidence it is the first and it but it and it's also kind of super expensive -- 650 -- -- really. When you consider their top little lion radar detectors. Right or 500 bug. That's retail price for the GPS device that you now outlines out those 650 MS RP BW local two to five and half street naming. -- humble but they have. It wasn't that just came out if you'll probably won't in the extra effort from time creative the only one of the market -- exactly I think I think there are also having. -- -- right now they're kind of back ordered on them a little bit of what their site says. You can get it to automatically reroute you -- if they think it's very radar hit. And of related front is taken to Jackson about the right anyway in the front and immediately had to leave the data banks and you can you acquire and edit video -- ports -- applies the brakes and a turning on the tail light sensitivity can wired into their their leverage -- -- -- does the are really the the -- something you're one of them as an arm for the up for yet -- shift -- Yeah and basically it it you install it on your front and rear license plates and Munich adequately -- at least when you -- would leave their you know. Things out with them pleaser. Really confuse the -- your detector as soon as you say. The blog post the question of illegal -- before while. Is that electronic warfare on the highway right exactly that's not -- and all saddled with the police don't know lawyer everything of that the illegal. Home theater and you go now it's the lawyers haven't gotten that -- -- the articles of the reflective barely -- But if -- we put a link to this look at the and look at the image we're gonna put it we've put the -- from the show notes and the -- parse the artist's rendition. Of the formula Ross. -- the guy in the very front. Is not having a good thing and it's going oh my god. He's laughing but he's made it oddities angry at that and no one right behind him a little behind him she's just about to blow right -- -- apparently -- -- This and another right here actually the -- very strange and it's of the B twelve yet they flume ride. And you ride to read -- representation and the of the Ferrari 590 -- at twelve homeowners also -- engine. I don't like that except that to read the piston in the near ready in the smells good clothes on me oh yeah some -- -- exclude. Anybody -- detonated. Does that is not running those fire somewhere you end up running out the exhaust of the -- -- This is that horrible idea and -- are all these drives some very dark. Art for our world AKA hell as -- launched a. Abu -- fast they'll put that link to a lot of good stuff look at a video these are some clips with the mission and there are some interesting clips of -- supposedly -- -- two months ago also we have -- -- the overview look like that kind of spider -- -- -- old. Red Ferrari -- well that's the thing and now its life. Okay folks on Monday is coming up Monday. Oh November 1 I believe we're launching a new partnership within PD a big research company to jointly recruit recently that we called -- and Tuesday's panel. And want all the CNET podcast of the CNET live listeners to consider signing up and have them market to any crap like that it's -- -- -- -- to get hold regularly on your opinions about upcoming consumer electronics. And the manufacturers in the consumer electronics companies will get these abstracted research reports and it will -- help shape the way future products are designed when they come to market at all so you go the URL called tell us about tech. Dot com and -- gets seen at the partner industry checked that we've -- it's not some crap it's not some scheme everything like that it's really important research project. And you can sign up there and give us your input there's no cost for not gonna sell your address from obviously your data it's all anonymous information. And they're gonna have various cash and -- -- think also product prices that'd be -- be going on as this continues over and over there. And check it out on the global look at that at look at it as well tell us about -- Dot com I think it's pretty interesting way to take parts and not just -- tech but -- part of it's developed. Okay email get this week coupled we gotta write in from Sebastian -- -- Abraham voice through the shelf life of today's gasoline. We have a percentage of methanol and ethanol. Is really short. I put edited my motorcycle during the winter when -- was -- easy for long periods of time but what do I bought a Chevy Volt. And commute less than forty miles a day and would basically never used the gas engine. What happens to the -- I'd never thought about it just sits there for arguably forever. Weeks months what have you. Well we found something over the GM -- website which is the -- You -- enthusiast site. It's it's a blog -- solely about the -- And in there is at least one patent application for a system in the bowl -- I don't know that has the astronaut but at least the patent application for. Where a reservoir of fuel additive is stored on board of the car. And the vehicle detects through time temperature and water content. If they if it needs a -- of this added it to keep the gas rash never heard of a system like that. Which there was a system like that the -- -- people park their cars for a long time. And they got to winterize a manually what the card can automatically winterize itself as it monitors -- fuel condition but has guessed really stale and I have always heard that sort of a -- You know I've never had happened to me and I got the cardinal drive but every few cards -- a storage after year. In line I mean we're gonna California of course though you the weather gets pretty much yet. I you know maybe I could see moisture getting into your tank after -- -- that's the state or write to -- that maybe the issue I've seen it happen. It but that if the big -- question with an old. Dodge Ram -- And porous gas line yeah -- that -- -- will like it. Seven six of seven years old yeah law -- If we were trying to get it running in we ended up haven't you -- -- the gas tank and well it out yeah or everything out and you know getting the thing is whenever they find barn -- you know they'd never start the -- the -- wanna -- -- that jailed fuel. Into the carburetor objectors whatever it -- that's one of the theories that the fuel gets -- a Latin -- I've never and a receipt. But yeah I think the other thing inflict you know there's definitely. The floating around in -- minerals and and that that kind of instead bottomless pit out and usually that's where the -- is. For the fuel -- of the bottom -- at the top at the bottom and those birds when you try to make those cars that the first thing it does is pull all of that. That sentiment -- they allowed us -- stories the fuel pumps through the end and I presume that's not gonna be a problem the bullpen because you're gonna be driving around under electric power maybe not using your gas. That driving around is gonna keep everything mixed. Step up yet -- the -- are being stored it's kind of like he stored gas in an act. Active cart scenario which we've never had the market before the -- -- before the could not use its gas will be driven every. So it's an odd one but they've got a technology. As well as the fact that of course gasoline they're increasingly stable as the engineer the hell out of now in the refining process but. Yeah I wonder if it's a bit -- -- -- always been afraid of it was some Karzai that'll drive often but I've never car called because the gas lose. Joke or what and even with water -- gonna hesitates a little woman. Clears up. -- -- comes in from Bart. Recently saw a video you guys test in the BMW 123. Bart says and I have a 118. In -- -- however I'm -- to move to the US he has a scholarship because they reformed and attach it with my car -- -- -- wanna hear about that. I was hoping to bring it along getting it there is the easy part being allowed to drive -- US is the hard part of my question is how did you get permission to drive a 123 DE. In the United States. It's because Bosch who makes the inspectors for diesel. And wants to promote diesel used in the US that -- as the currently they were able to get it here. -- have a special. Demonstration licensed to me like that yet and they have the attorneys and they have the shop we can do the federalization but that's what it was -- do it wasn't a -- on the market -- anything. Someone could've bought. It was a special import whatever kind of certificate or permit that they get. And -- get through a major manufacturer that has all kinds of Savion expertise if your interest in doing this though we'll put a link in the show notes. Call for what it takes to go through and -- vehicle ready for personal imports -- Probably cost you -- the cars worth but take a look at it depends on what you love the car. The form is the DOT HS seven Department of Transportation -- -- HS -- one of the main forms. And it says is a general rule motor vehicles less than 25 years old which your car is have to comply with all federal motor vehicle safety standards that a lot of standards. That's front impact side impact rollover airbags lighting shape size brightness and position. I'm just getting started probably have to do with stability control AB yes there's a ton of stuff. And it's not fun and there was little hole when the when you couldn't get a GTR in America and people were oh -- are 34 -- It was -- was ridiculously expensive to get him over same thing with. With one big used to import if older Hondas and he's funds and what -- that's a yeah over here it's just yeah hot versions we couldn't get. You'd import -- and it would end -- cost between 37 dollars for the GTR over. Right on top of the -- of the -- -- about the darkness that's the the federalization costs and there are only a few I think if you go to a licensed. For what they -- -- licensed shop is licensed by the federal government to do the certification it -- take -- -- shop. And say do this list of things got to be some majority in the system which keeps the number of shops you can do it -- it Steve's the bright -- so bottom line is. We got to do it because boss gave brought us the car and you're not gonna wanna do what -- -- it just doesn't -- Okay we're going to I think equivalent of -- cars here is what a position over two hours and but -- the all but -- the government let's talk about. Join us if you -- -- your browser. Our law cars lake it's in last week's show notes and a few other previous week so we've got to bookmark so let's go to our first new fresh car what on earth from those wheels. The -- of solid data literally -- and a I mean like ceramic. -- aluminum but -- powder coated -- A -- receive we thought we should become a real world we've never seen -- -- -- the -- -- the red flames and -- rent blamed on the federal black. Sedan Monte Carlo -- I just put to into beginners is in Miramar Florida -- Miami Heat. Oh. And a bit of an embed it on the side. You're right. Miami Heat and early next one is of the boat the blurry shot -- produce that this in this is from obesity and a Matthew in San Diego he found this as part of his local gonna shop was that -- dealings with. And they have this what does that Ford Aerostar. If you can probably tell you can't really tell -- at least melting face on the front of it. -- world with the world's strangest Gaza -- -- where those Japanese and hope that he -- Yeah tablet booths huge fans of the -- -- use -- Willard and a long pointy nose again like tons of light -- room had a look like they're going on their dad yeah. -- fifty petered out to audiences straight up Ford Aerostar and -- by the cute on the aren't terribly new not to be wide wheels and -- -- boiler off the the come back and -- ultimatum is different I'm counter force Watters -- Let's -- number three this week is horrifying but it's captured in like you know combat photography mode. This is apparently and AM see eagle. Six by six hmm. Dual trucks in the rear. Huge fender flares to accommodate it. Totally lifted this is which you want when it on the Internet. Against the Eagles six I think McCain may be -- In Culver city Southern California publicity on the -- somewhere why on earth would you be in the concrete jungle drivers. Most of it visit. From that. Odyssey is another one here's the super chicken what is this thing it's -- eighties Hebert obvious super -- Probably not. Witnesses who put this on their car who -- -- chicken logo on their quoted the thunderbirds of thunder. The theater tickets it's a few lightning coming up the -- -- see that under the with the Carty faster and it doesn't look all that. -- much or anything happen that's what it's like like about revolving slime for fried chicken restaurants Johnson did -- so on and and there's the I guess but we'll have complete or something in the -- that is the beauty where of the tactic in is that what that says it's right there underneath the windshield wipers. It's frightening. So -- these are pictures that our users have found enough pictures that our viewers. Our of their cars or are today or online -- I don't know by trust only this -- near dear to my heart slide five this week. The dots and 510 -- Yes at a five who now look at this show and -- stretched by -- -- -- -- -- a good job. The lines are all straight. Delegate who fit within that you don't -- be broken hearted. You come on Craig's list he wants you to buy it I need to you have to needs a lot of work. At the bodies -- that it looked rusty. That engine unit -- -- -- along very well. -- are you kidding this is like I've never seen it a stretched by ten minutes ago at the first of the company reading westernized -- where -- that's new like other windows -- blacked out the nice intent is you for the privacy in personal privacy -- of -- law cards so this week send it. -- you've been doing it and keep doing it. It's scar -- cnet.com that's for all these come from rep to how many now sixty some -- and at the time you got a lot of and -- post the best ones as they come in. We -- the show link in the show notes put it last week aborted due to get every week and it's all cards cards you'll laugh -- -- own known around you didn't do that. Don't -- surf the web and go find photos of some models to these are -- once secret -- the real deal real genuine stuff on the street is that makes this whole feel so glad. That we aren't those people that's what we -- A -- let's go on the road now this week. It's part of an ongoing parade of hot rod and have been darkening our doorway the last few weeks meaty meaty let -- I mean not longer we had the Shelby 500 and -- and 812 we got the challenger SRT eight what a week ago. And this week we have. Just left of the garage the second -- Of all the Corvette so let's take a ride as -- one take us. Out -- for a little barn burning a 2011 Chevy Corvette ZO six. The -- about the current. -- would traction control on you can sometimes get a little bit of real men. Just a little bit. It's accelerating from even the most you know when -- -- stop side. After getting a little more than that when your in motion digital lot of gaps that seven liter engine has just enough -- the wheels I'll lose all over the place. But I -- there's also a ton of -- -- mean you. They -- -- actually pretty hard to. It's you're burned out on this card and without turning on the president's role in just dumping and then you can forget about those slain men and teenage easily -- standing. Announced that does not gonna happen then doesn't leap forward pretty revel in the that's pretty much -- -- and I mean this card is strictly a race card actually had. Hard to call it -- -- -- -- -- just a simple sports card. Yeah we're dealing with they then -- -- Be a in the you can probably barely -- -- over -- certainly so brash about horsepower they put it on the -- 505 horsepower that. Right -- only Portland seventy content toward. That's just one of -- problems discard the engine is an all out of vision I mean seven liters a lot of displacement. You imagine 32 liter bottles as we each other and an extra Apple announcement out of displacement. But other car companies that got more power -- last. But don't talk about the attack in the sky -- the cabin tech. But regulation talk about it because they've -- -- -- make you angry at him and made me angry that got a touch screen navigation system here. Let's look -- takes -- the right but it doesn't navigation. And it -- iPod connectivity and there radio and it. But I mean it's just ridiculously difficult to use and maps look horrible. Quite frankly very ugly just all over the place. It seems like you know on screen like the iPod screen. But just kind of talks on the screen where everything happens. -- it without you really real -- and navigating quickly and easily. And now and going through by -- library -- -- it's really slow experts load. I've Dayton and I've put -- like new artists on -- -- page and -- through that list is just like where's the button which button which button. That was the biggest -- of cabin tech in one of the most fun cars. Wow that's. Those of polar opposites -- I can't -- -- found that car all that fun actually 10 yeah and fun all qualify and that it was kind of like. I can't believe this is available when children are I'm gonna stay lake I had fun for the first -- Five minutes and in -- scared to death at that and -- you guys are absolutely -- on there was a point where I was when I had the full traction control line and taken and any of its lesser modes are off. It does drive it around if you get on -- hard enough like where's the traction control wait a minute it the card just loosen up. And it that you don't want to do that weren't the sanitized condom rap world of cars where -- You can never get -- you're good there's a million tracks -- -- you can't you -- refugee TR someone AG -- lets you drive off a cliff but that car trouble. Oh he had this what else what -- thought about this car actually is is a lot depends on road circuits yeah I was driving and -- a lot of county roads a little bit -- you know maybe -- re paved in a couple decades. And if I accelerated hard. The front end does come up in -- wanna go sideways yeah I just it doesn't have a good state should do look at those steamroller tires and -- in the front twenties in the back as we of the optional -- -- the -- ZO six performance -- him the best come I had this car was on a highway one where it just been -- fresh black top -- the car ran smoothly descriptive -- -- -- take these thirty -- on -- corners it. Seventies on something like that it more speed than was recommended. The best take away on this was when you guys. -- sports car. It's not this is a race car -- It's not it is so it does of the joy of driving the sports -- I tell -- -- if if -- always Brady did come despite -- at. And -- anything point it's deflate are a -- you -- your talent and I'm not gonna right click on it. Click I was doing no more luck than bad starts to get the -- spinning for the photo shoot and I mean it is. I needed it more than any other car driven it just once the spin yes like even just going industry -- -- -- -- -- the way now. Yeah I we we are to have some -- -- for the video and starting off on -- shoulder and getting up under the highway is that the I think I must've fixed tilt perhaps third among author of a -- and it just would just keep going and almost -- -- and eventually plant. -- this -- -- of those light up the hallway who left right wait wait you're just trying to hang on keep that thing in the right lane and it's like wow that being fitted. I think that it it it. It's telling that Wayne could only 470. -- -- -- I was also surprised how small that number one's really yeah foreigners that you've not a small number -- British of that day. And my daughter and and that's what's below the horsepower I don't think -- -- we're that were coming on. Yeah I did when I got it like -- -- like -- it was it was pretty low yet so it's it's the difference between like having a big number. And actually having usable toward all the time in expressible mean probably doesn't weigh that much more than and -- that. It it does put out the other characteristics of how power comes on and a different kind of engine. I was known as the we would get the sky and just came in -- four point leader direct injection engine -- 400 horsepower. You know without going all it does. Yeah I mean that's 2.2. Leaders short of what the -- 3.2 -- truck and a big difference yet I love what the you know Corvette had. -- -- -- gonna come on very differently. Although still you know they were claiming fifteen miles per gallon that city in that thing we do we didn't -- break gap fifteen. -- -- are driving we're lucky -- fourteen point five overall. There was a little bit of a guzzler and and and the way they've got it calibrated which is scary is you don't you know low fuel light until you orb just below the bottom line. It doesn't screw around with you. You're -- fuel Islam as a quarter take left notes that you're -- little deathly okay. We're off the scale you can go to miles -- rockets hit it it picked him out just for comparison -- Honda S 2000. Is 2900 pounds. And has. Horse power horsepower you earn twenty important -- the like that let me see -- are 237. Horse and and if you look at a Corvette ZO 63175. Is the way to approximately. Old. For 500 pounds more that's realize that's all and it has 505. Ports power so yeah the power waiver is just pretty impressed -- -- -- And our car actually came with the carbon fiber package that we -- a carbon fiber roof. Which probably -- -- aside pounds off yeah and we just had ceramic brakes which. I don't think we even tax those at all I think they're laughing at everything we can't do it yeah this car dude this is really why they -- it is just. It's for the track don't -- You don't wanna drive and -- -- well. You -- wanted to add to the track. But. But the point is getting contract yet I didn't yeah I didn't find to be the most enjoyable car on interesting little -- you know I go camping -- boy from a to -- form ordinance. In New Hampshire like the you -- -- little while modest in cars and lately that I enjoyed driving hard more than this guy. This was a car that I -- -- off for but I didn't have a whole lot of one drive I equipment finger. Yeah I just wanna get an on the track and blow away you know BMWs and everything else that that kind -- -- catch you and everybody will know it does the exhaust system outages involving on it. I couldn't find documentation of on this site anywhere but it seems that bypass. And when you hit it hard enough but it isn't not a super charger Turbo -- car so it's just that -- do -- -- I -- RPM related or something. It opens up some -- somewhere in the engine and and of the exhaust note changed his completely. From a sports car to. Bomb detonated at and it disagree with you led off between -- flip -- part of -- problem yes it's totally. Totally trick I'm sick sounding stuff -- I mean that in the race theories up upon. I mean you just -- incredible bowels of hell sound when you step on it and it would go back to. I've had that happen I've. Yeah when I got it up on that and as on the highway -- -- a freshly paved road. I've put it in -- years got the revs up and got that sound going and it stayed go -- and -- felt that power and that's kind of where you wanted to be with -- -- goes it goes and -- -- you wanted to have that. -- that revs up in the U cowardice you know on those wheels and that sound going. And you really just can't keep -- that kind of -- on most road road and -- the prospect of a 190 miles an hour -- L humbled and -- -- does it mention it being governed to 155 which most cars are right it's just literally no 198. I didn't see any about a governor. And never got -- -- So -- our car had everything we have ZO six or -- seven package depending what part of their website market outlawed. 101000 dollars fusion bigger cooling system magnetic ride controls -- -- sport for normal. For the electronically modified -- the of the shock fluid and and public tutoring it's certainly not to worry. Answer little tour it's not comfort now certainly not it was a couple of quick thinking it was like bearable and track. That nineteen of the front twenties in the back is part of that packet in the ceramic brakes the one you wanna skips that now I mean that's -- that's a disaster. At 18100 dollars. Disaster the united be able to hear the music -- you -- GPS dvd ancient. Traffic comes over and FM signal that's -- at a news traffic that wasn't there now there's the traffic in the over -- right -- travel question mark -- that there's no traffic on that system six and a half inch touch LCD with the worst resolution we've seen since 1999. MIT -- isn't this the system was built before they actually had created GPS if the rest -- this is good but before they go gently before they invented the sixth generation Corvette. I would guarantee that system predates the sixth and it does play. USB slot but it doesn't have to correlate that the specialist on that badly -- -- -- right we think exactly get rid of it. Put a Mac listen if you have you on your own but not that. Of the package we have with three LZ which is the carbon fiber. Some of the carbon fiber on this case -- the carbon fiber console program. Without that composers stuff. And lots of different leather and -- improvements in that -- So we had a loaded ZO six and 98000 I think just as close to undercut its under lot of money. And it never looked of that is that it'll that was -- -- -- also does. Again you know when you're spinning a car around doing burnout you know what -- I don't know if -- that's billion dollars -- -- Oh what is 76 to get Olivia you hnilicka 124000. Dollars I don't mind of a mobile came out and you read that around -- everybody -- Canada announced it. You have based on as the as six's 76 and when you -- -- all the packages you can go as high as 98 maybe a little bit higher with more options but. That's gonna your polls on this one and of course the ZR one as the big boy that's. A much smaller engine as the 427. That's what they get the seven leaders -- -- -- -- -- -- -- glory days of 427 -- it's a small block them -- their big small block at the big small. Let's see other notes on this six speed manual only. Rear wheel drive only it's a great principal -- for this interest in aluminum -- got it carbon -- got -- carbon balsa wood -- him. That I thought was very -- carbon would carbon impulse and which oh yeah well yeah that's gonna be legally right but also never heard -- that car. I mean. That's what -- termites and there. There we get to have an exact in an apartment through the carbon purse that's right that's what stops at exactly thought everything. Our -- -- six reviews up review is -- -- -- it is up and he is up in the video be up my probably tomorrow actual. Hopefully tomorrow okay -- -- to a voice over -- you can. You can deliver on April okay so that's is the 06 Corvette over cars dot cnet.com or all of our reviews -- let's check out what's going on right now on the CNET. Our tech garage. Does the a six of course is about to make its bye -- and we're just wrapping up with -- Honda Odyssey -- leads children do reviews.
