The $129.99 Samsung Galaxy Discover for Cricket Wireless serves up Android Ice Cream Sandwich without a binding wireless contract.

Hi. This is Brian Bennett for and right now, we're taking a first look at the Samsung Galaxy Discover, smartphone for Cricket Wireless. With a retail price of $129.99 off contract, they discover as one of the least expensive Android handsets on the market. Measuring 4.6 inches tall by 2.4 inches wide and almost half an inch thick, the Discover is pretty compact if not exactly thin. The phone's 4.5-ounce weight is light as well. Don't expect to be blown away by the Discover's features, speed or software though. The phone runs outdated Android 4.04 Ice Cream Sandwich. It's also powered by a weak 800 MHz single core processor linked to just 512 megabytes of RAM. They discover its 3.5-inch LCD screen is small too and offers a low 480 by 320 pixel resolution. There's no front-facing camera either. Usually, they place that above the display. Below the screen are 3 capacitor buttons for basic Android control. On the left is a volume rocker. The right edge has a tiny power key. Up top is a 3.5mm headphone jack and a groove for removing the back battery cover. There you'll find a removable 1500 milliampere battery and SD card slot. Also on back is the 3-megapixel camera but no flash. The camera app is very basic too with none of the slick filters or shooting modes such as HDR or panorama. 4G data isn't an option on the Discover either since the device supports 3D only. The handset does support Cricket's Muve Digital Music service that offers unlimited downloads included with your monthly service fee. I'm Brian Bennett for and this has been a first look at the Samsung Galaxy Discover.
