CNET's Natali del Conte shows off the much-anticipated Apple iPad live on CBS' Early Show.

^B00:00:00 >> Ladies and Gentlemen, people of America, the moment -- >> The moment that will save humanity, as we know it -- >> Is upon us. Apple's -- >> In a world of high technology, Ladies and Gentlemen -- >> Apple's highly anticipated iPad. >> -- Look at this. ^M00:00:17 [ Cheers ] It is the Apple iPad. ^M00:00:22 [ Cheers ] >> Is that the iPad [inaudible]. >> You know, I think I hear angels singing. We've been waiting so long for this. >> Let's put it on our exclusive pedestal right now. >> Okay. >> CNET senior editor, Natali Del Conte, because this is the Early Show, got us an early look at the iPad. How did you manage that? >> Two days early. >> Nice. >> Yeah, two days early. Apple tends to be a little guarded with these things, so this is our baby for today. Check out the iPad. >> How about it? Natali Del Conte, professional shoplifter. ^M00:00:47 [ Cheers ] >> I did. I -- >> [Inaudible] for something? >> -- Snuck into that Apple store and lifted it. No, this is very cool. >> But what's the big deal? >> You know, it's one of those things where we just haven't seen anything like this before. It's a cross between a notebook and a phone. So I think it's going to be really great. For cooking in the kitchen, look at this app from Epicurious. It's got recipes here. You can find something for Easter brunch. Keep it with you in the kitchen. It'll give you all of these nice recipes. I really like the iBook Reader. So this, I think, will probably replace my Kindle. I like reading books this way. >> No, I love the Kindle. >> Look at -- >> Wow. >> -- How you turn the page. >> Bring it on, Kindle. >> Those are some fighting words. >> Love the Kindle. >> I mean, are you going to read from your -- you know, to your kid from the Kindle, or are you gonna show him Winne the Pooh this way? >> Oh, boy. Oh, boy. >> It's so much nicer. >> I like it. >> It might be revolutionary. >> Did you see the skies just opened up? The sun is now coming down. It is -- >> I saw one of these women here crying as this thing came in. >> Someone fainted, I think. >> Yeah, exactly. >> It might have been me. >> I want to ask our other techie -- >> Yes? >> Does this seem like something you could be into? >> I think it's fantastic because you can put everything together in this one little sleek item that you can carry with you anywhere. So you don't have to carry your phone, your iPod, you know, all these other items. >> Although -- >> That's a big [inaudible], though. >> -- Putting it in your pocket is a little bit tough. >> That's true. You may need a man bag for that. >> There's a fanny pack for that. >> In your man bag, actually, is where -- that's another term you shouldn't use, probably, man bag. >> It makes you undatable. >> Yeah. It is gorgeous, though. >> But this could make you very datable because it's cool. >> Yeah. >> Now, the other thing about this is, you know, Apple has a history of producing items, and then waiting for consumers to respond. And then six months later, it's version two. >> Right. >> This has no camera on it. A lot of people Skype and take pictures. >> Yeah, right. >> Do you anticipate we're gonna see some changes to this pretty rapidly. >> I think we'll see some changes, probably within a year or so, and they're gonna see how consumers use it. It's one of those things where you don't really need it. We're all getting along just fine right now without it, but once you have it -- >> Are we really, though? >> -- I don't think that you're gonna be okay without it. >> I don't think we are. >> One of those -- it's one of those things, once you buy it, you're not gonna ever want to give it back, I think. >> All right. >> So they have sold out of what has been pre-sold already, which is available on the third. >> Yes, but you can get it in the store, and you can go to some Best Buys and get it there as well. >> All right. >> Or if you have friends, I guess you're pretty much all set. >> There it is. >> Thank you so much, Natali. ^M00:02:59 [ Music ] ^E00:03:01
