AMD's Eyefinity technology expands your desktop real estate beyond all reason.
>> Hi I'm Rich Brown, Senior Editor for CNET.com. We're here with Evan Groenke from AMD and we're taking a look at ATI's new Eyefinity Graphics card technology. What can you tell us about this Evan?
>> Evan: We have multiple display groups running right now; we've got iTunes, cnet.com and Hulu looping on the top screens so not only can you game on three screens, you can also be productive on three screens as well or you can game on six screens altogether as well vastly expanding your gaming experience.
>> Rich: So we've got six 22-inch displays here right? And it's running off of a single graphics card. We've got a very high-end PC over here. Origin PC let us borrow their review units, some pretty high end stuff. Who do you imagine is going to be the primary user for a set up like this?
>> Evan: Well you're going to be looking at the gamer who wants to gain the competitive edge. Think about your first person shooter games where you have guys creeping up behind you with knives and want to mainly attack you. You'll be able to see them coming at your earlier through your peripheral, for you racing fans out there think about being in your cockpit inside the car and being able to see both left and right rearview mirrors, seeing the cars approaching you from behind so you can close in on them, take away the paths.
>> Rich: So what kind of computer do you need to run something like this?
>> Evan: Windows 7 so you can get your Direct X 11 gaming, choose Direct X 11 games so you get fantastic graphics and great frame rates as well. Mostly you want to make sure you've got an ATI Eyefinity compatible card so you can start gaming on more than three displays and up.
>> Rich: So it will of course work with an Intel-based PC as well?
>> Evan: Of course.
>> Rich: ATI Eyefinity and the card, when is that coming out? I know you said the date isn't really firm yet.
>> Evan: It will be out shortly. You can already game on three displays. Our six-display product will be out shortly.
