Adobe Creative Suite 3 offers new flavors of Photoshop and Illustrator integrated with updates to Flash, Dreamweaver, and more in Adobe's CS3 packages for serious digital designers.

[ Music ] ^M00:00:01 >> Hi, I'm Elsa Wenzel, Associate Editor at cnet.com. Today we're looking at Adobe's brand new software suites. Adobe is set to release brand new editions of Photo Shop, Flash, Dreamweaver, Illustrator and a whole slew of other applications later in the spring. Adobe has added a lot of new integration throughout the Creative Suite 3, which covers nearly every aspect of digital design. In Photo Shop CS3 as with other programs you can move feature panels around and even leave them outside of the interface. New creative tools include a clone source pallet for retouching. In addition there are nondestructive smart object layers. With the new smart object layers you can convert an image layer to a smart object, which allows you to make changes to that layer and then later you can turn those changes on or off without having to undo or redo any steps. For instance, you can apply a filter to a layer and then turn it off simply by clicking the eye icon next to that smart filter affect. And the new quick selection tool lets you select similar regions within an image without having to outline each curve. There are also more creative controls in Illustrator Creative Suite 3. For instance, there's now an eraser and a new live color feature in Illustrator CS3 makes it easier to color in shapes and to change color themes. In addition you can now move both Illustrator and Photo Shop files directly into Flash. Flash steps you through importing PSD images to the stage and you can accept or reject components layer by layer. You can even convert each layer to a key frame for instant animation. Flash as well as other former Macromedia programs now look more like they belong to Adobe. Flash CS3 has a new debugger and it also introduces Action Script 3. ^M00:02:23 [ Silence ] ^M00:02:32 In Fireworks CS3 there's a library of commonly used web elements and a new color pallet. Like Flash Fireworks now imports Photo Shop and Illustrator files layer by layer. Dreamweaver also imports Photo Shop layers and its new preset layouts offer plenty of preprogrammed CSS for data driven websites. Dreamweaver's spry framework offers support for AJAX coding. ^M00:03:08 [ Silence ] ^M00:03:13 Overall Adobe's Creative Suite 3 emphases creating cross platform content. Adobe CS3's new device central software previews how Flash animation, bitmap images, videos and web pages will appear on various handheld devices. Adobe will continue to update device central with skins for the latest gadgets such as the Apple iPhone. I'm Elsa Wenzel and this was a quick look at Adobe Creative Suite 3. ^M00:03:44 [ Music ]
