Car Tech Video: 2012 Honda Ridgeline

4:21 /

If you like your truck low tech, the Honda Ridgeline is your huckleberry.

Yes it would look like this except that man likes to roll CNET style. Let's drive the point twelve -- ridge -- sport. Think of the -- is sort of a lighter footprint version of a Chevy Avalanche journal ask a lady XT's. Those of course both V8 trucks that weighs some thirteen hundred pounds more but the core idea is there and ask you teach. Sport utility truck. It's what sets them apart. And this one even further -- thanks to its dearth of gadgetry and cylinders. But is that all a bad thing. Okay welcome to my high tech layer inside the ridgeline. -- there is no tech in this car. I mean no tech well -- you -- the aux Jack tech that's like having a speedometer in this day and age. And that's about as far as it goes -- we got a CD slot there isn't even Bluetooth. Available. On a ridge lines -- navigation not available rear camera not available. -- -- -- got Bluetooth calling -- this is the lowest tech ride I've ever reviewed for CNET. If you want any kind of technology got to go -- what they -- the RTL trim level it's kind of verilux overs and on this thing but that's another review the sport is real simple. The cabin design is evident this thing so but weird mishmash overrun stuff. And square stuff that doesn't appeal to me doesn't turn me off innings big -- and operate -- -- your gloves on its a good trochmann. And there are storage medical everywhere here's a place for canned vegetables over there you can -- and adoption center around of this being. And the last thing I wanna call -- the most charming ticket out. My sixteen Lincoln has -- column -- -- Asked why the old one it connects to a one choice only five speed automatic and there's an overdrive lock out but right here it's a big block edit drop ship from five -- -- -- as your -- gear. Know the you can only get buckets in the blunt no bids and it -- -- your -- seating capacity down to five engine the -- what -- in the front. Now back here is evidence of why you might call the -- the thinking hillbillies pick up it goes to -- -- the magic gate. Down that way or reach down here for the secret lever. Job. Now -- the engine bay is where the -- further raises the eyebrows of real truck people. Because that moderate you may notice is transverse -- sitting side saddle. Real trucks -- that's way too hard enough viewers -- -- 247 foot pounds of torque. Gets its 4500 pound beast up to sixty. About eight seconds while delivering 1521. MPG -- that one choice only five speed automatic. Driving a ridgeline is. Definitely a -- -- feeling drug experience it's got that kind of have always run this is -- the -- was ready to take on its a pretty good payload. -- this vehicle does have an independent suspension on all four corners and -- very car like trade but to be honest. -- 150s as Silverado senior ram -- they -- tuned out that truck harshness but the market's just too competitive don't ride like a truck. Even if you are one. Power is good not overwhelming yeah. Honda says the thing and drive and don't engage any single -- really get in trouble extremely steep incline or you're just stuck in a whole were up. A big mud longer some think. Then you would turn on that variable torque management lock button to get some rear locking -- up to about eighteen miles an hour it's obviously a low speed things. This is not only -- -- Where you're gonna be out there doing this I understand -- some really serious off roading. This is -- vehicle they can handle things you don't get in trouble. Okay pricing -- -- -- really easy just go buy. It's 31000 deliveries you'll probably pay quite a bit less because typically they don't sell worth the -- of -- is not unheard of in terms of tech options -- You can and XM radio for 300 box. Rear backup sensors perform fifty both of those are dealer installed there aren't those CNET style factory options. Anything like -- room -- have rear camera Bluetooth you have to go to the RTL trim level.
