Mobile World Congress 2014: ZTE Open C Firefox phone makes a colorful statement

1:31 /

One of the best-looking Firefox phones we've seen, this new ZTE effort shines in deep orange and blue.

Hey, everyone. This is Jessica Dolcourt from CNET here at Mobile World Congress 2014. This is the ZTE Open C. Now this phone comes in two colors here, this very bright blue color and this very bright orange color. They are Firefox phones running Firefox OS, version 1.3. That is the most current. One thing that I really like about a lot of ZTE phones is that they put some effort into the appearance. So it's got a nice soft touch finish on the back. It looks pretty glossy. It feels almost rubbery, so it's nice on the hand. The color is very rich. It also has this silvery trim on the sides. So, it's a little bit of an accent piece that gives you something to look at, which is nice because you don't always see that on phones that are just low costs. We don't have the cost or availability yet, but Firefox OS phones are specifically meant to be ultra affordable and go to emerging markets. These are phones for people who have never had a phone before. So on to the specs. This one has a 4-inch display with an 800 x 400-pixel resolution. It has a 1.2-gigahertz Qualcomm's Snapdragon 200 processor and a 3-megapixel camera on the back. Note that there is no camera on the front. There's no pricing for this phone yet, but we do know that it is coming out in Venezuela and Uruguay in Q2. I'm Jessica Dolcourt for CNET. You can learn more about this phone at CNET.com.
