CNET News Video: Tech Minute: Valentine's Day gifts for music lovers

1:02 /

Forget about flowers, if you've got a melody maniac on your list, think outside the box (of chocolates). No, we don't mean the obvious MP3 player or a music-download gift card -- CNET's Kara Tsuboi suggests some fancy headphones or a membership to an archived-concert service.

A true music lover will appreciate any sort of upgrade over the headphones he or she is probably already using. If you have an unlimited budget, CNET recommends that Jerry Harvey JH16 headphones for nearly 1,200 dollars, these babies claimed offer the most extraordinary sound especially for an in-ear model. And a more realistic price point, you'll find that MEElectronics A151 earphones for about 50 bucks. CNET reviewers said they offer a nice balance sound with a quality cable. The downsides, there are no microphone for making phone calls and a somewhat weak bass. But again, there're probably a serious upgrade over the headphones that came with your cellphone. The perfect gift to go with cool headphones will be a membership to concertvault.com. For 50 dollars a year of VIP membership will allow you full access, unlimited streaming and all sorts of other discounts to these rare and hard to find live concerts. In San Francisco, I'm Kara Tsuboi, CNET.com for CBS News.
