Best e-book readers of 2016

Looking for an e-book reader? You have more choices than ever before--though the number of models we at CNET can enthusiastically recommend is actually pretty short. Presented below are our favorite black-and-white e-ink models, including some that have built-in lighting. All of these models offer longer battery life and a more "paperlike" reading experience than color LCD tablets. Note that many of the competing models are closely matched, so be sure to read the full reviews (and the stories linked below) before making a buying decision.

While it doesn't necessarily beat the Kindle Paperwhite, the $119 Nook GlowLight is an excellent e-reader that's strongly worth considering if you don't want to buy into the Amazon ecosystem.
