Video: Nokia N900 hacking competition

We headed to an underground London location to meet the five finalists of a contest to hack, mod and supercharge the Nokia N900

If there's one thing wrong with mobile phones, it's that they aren't extreme enough. Apps? Pah. Maps? Pshhh. We're talking about pushing your phone to the limit. We're talking about taking the highway to the danger zone! And then phoning people and saying "Yeah, I'm in the danger zone! That's right! What are you gonna do about it?" We're talking about attaching your phone to a motherloving kite.

That's the kind of thinking on display in the Nokia Push N900 competition. We headed to an underground London location to meet the five finalists of a contest to hack, mod and supercharge the Nokia N900, with its Maemo operating system.

Thrill! as some Germans bash the N900 on to a skateboard. Gasp! as a Brazilian attaches his phone to a kite. Vibrate! as we meet someone called Lady BNA-NAS. Comment! on which is your favourite, in the usual place. Click play! to take it to the edge.
