Video: Hands-on with the Canon EOS 500D

Crave has visited Canon's London offices to try out the new EOS 500D, the most affordable dSLR to shoot video. But there's more to this consumer-friendly model, as we found out

We couldn't wait to get our hands on the Canon EOS 500D, the latest -- and most affordable -- dSLR camera to shoot video. It's full high-definition video, at that.

Crave joined Canon high above London's bustling Square Mile to put the 500D through its paces. This 15-megapixel impressed us when hooked up to an HDTV, and it boasts simplified user experience over higher-specced models from which it inherits a number of features.

One such feature is high-definition video capture, with different resolution and frame rates on offer. It also packs in a consumer-friendly creative auto mode. Jessops is already offering the 500D on pre-order from £870, with a free 8GB Sandisk Extreme 3 Card and Canon DSLR bag with the two kits and even the body-only model.

Check out our photo gallery and hands-on impressions, or press play to see the 500D in action.
