UK misses out on Surface Pro price cut
Microsoft's Windows 8 tablet has been discounted in the US, but those savings aren't spreading much further, for now.
Microsoft has slashed the price of its, but the savings are yet to be passed onto UK shoppers.
The tablet has had $100 (£65) excised from its price tag in the US, Canada, China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, the Verge reports. A quick check on the UK site, however, reveals the Surface Pro still costs a gut-churning £719.
That's the price for the 64GB model. For the higher-capacity 128GB option you'll be shelling out £799 for the privilege. Those are the same prices you'd have had to pay back in July,. The RT version only lets you install software from Microsoft's app store, however, limiting its appeal.
As the Surface Pro, it wouldn't surprise me if we also have to wait longer for a price cut. I've contacted Microsoft asking for information on the UK price and whether Brits can expect an imminent discount, and I'll update this story if I hear anything significant from the house of Clippy.
It's no secret the Surface RT and Surface Pro haven't exhibited the kind of-toppling power Microsoft had hoped they would.
