Toshiba mini NB200: Keeps on truckin' for nine hours

The Toshiba mini NB200 can compute for up to 9 hours and also boasts a 10-inch screen, all for a very reasonable price

You know what we need? Another laptop. As if by magic, the Toshiba mini NB200 has appeared. It's a 10.1-inch laptop with a widescreen 1,024x600-pixel LED-backlit display. The standard three-cell battery will keep you computing for up to 4 hours, with a nine-cell version clocking up 9 hours.

You'll get to choose from a smorgasbord of chips, including a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 or the newer, w00tier Intel Atom N280, offering a clock speed of 1.66GHz. Both models also pack the Intel 945GSE graphics chipset.

Inside there's also a hard disk drive to store your movies, photos and porn. It's protected by a 3D accelerometer, to cushion blows inflicted when you drop the laptop or use it to set about traffic wardens.

Features include a 0.3-megapixel webcam, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, and no less than three USB 2.0 slots. The sleep-and-charge feature lets you charge mobile phones and the like even when the NB200 is turned off.

With all this going on, we hope it's better than the uninspiring NB100. But who can say? Actually we can, in one of our famous in-depth, no-holds-barred, no-stone-left-unturned reviews, no doubt coming soon.

The Toshiba mini NB200 will be available in brown, black, white or pink in May 2009. Prices will start from around £320.
