Nokia Lumia 2520 is Nokia's 'Sirius' tablet, tipster says

The rumoured Nokia tablet has been tipped to be called the Lumia 2520 -- but could Microsoft scrap Nokia's plans?

Nokia's rumoured tablet could be called the Lumia 2520, according to fresh rumours.

The tablet, tipped to carry the code named 'Sirius' , will arrive with a more traditional name, according to serial leaksters evleaks, which divulged the tidbit on Twitter.

Nokia's Lumia smart phones all come with a number, such as the original 800, or the more recent 1020 , which packs a massive 41-megapixel camera.

Reports regarding the elusive device suggest the 2520 will be a mere 8.9mm thick and weigh about 600g, and pack a 6.7-megapixel camera. It's bound to be powered by Microsoft's Windows 8 software, though it could use the full-fat version, or Windows RT, which only lets you install apps via Microsoft's app store.

Microsoft veto?

Nokia's mobile phone business is in the process of being bought by Microsoft , for a tidy sum of £4.6bn, but could that deal actually see the Lumia 2520 being ditched?

Tipster Eldar Murtazin hinted on Twitter that Microsoft wants Nokia to cancel its tablet. That could make sense from Microsoft's point of view -- with an acquisition on the horizon, it doesn't need Nokia making products that compete with its own tablet, the Microsoft Surface, which will get a sequel device later today .

Would you buy a Nokia tablet, or should the Finnish firm focus on phones? Let me know your thoughts in the comments or on our Facebook wall.
