Nokia Lumia 1020 'EOS' specs leaked before launch

On the day the Nokia Lumia 1020 is set to take a bow, Nokia's 41-megapixel PureView camera phone has seen its secrets exposed.

Days after the first pictures taken by the 1020 snuck onto Flickr, sources talking to UnleashThePhones say the 1020's specs include a dual-core processor and HD screen.

The camera-focused phone is reported to be packing a dual-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon chip, under a 4.5-inch AMOLED screen. The resolution is a high-definition 1,280x768 pixels.

As well as 1080p video, you can take a 41-megapixel photo and a smaller, more manageable pic at the same time, according to Twitter-based leak merchant Vizileaks.

The 1020 is officially unveiled at a launch event in New York at 4pm this afternoon. CNET will be there to confirm the specs and bring you all the news, previews and video you could possibly need.

Insiders have already confirmed to us that the new phone announced today will be coming to Britain. We're expecting it to hit shelves in roughly a month, probably bearing the name Lumia 1020 but almost certain to have dropped the rumoured codename 'EOS'.

Whatever it's called, the phone will be the first of Nokia's devices to bring the eye-popping 41-megapixel PureView technology to Windows Phone 8. That was first shown off on the 808 PureView back in 2012, when it was hobbled by Nokia's Symbian software.

Leaked snaps  show a polycarbonate shell with a rounded design, much like the existing Lumia 920 , but with a big bulge on the back housing the large image sensor.
