New Nexus 7 with 4G for £320 on O2 from 13 September

The souped-up mobile broadband-guzzling 4G Nexus 7 will be here next month and in your discerning hands for just £320.

The scintillating new Nexus 7 tablet is here today in the UK, but it's the Wi-Fi-only model that's reached Blighty, not its souped-up mobile broadband-guzzling 4G sibling. The 4G Nexus 7 will set you back £320, O2 has announced, and it'll be here on 13 September.

Pop a 4G SIM in that bad boy and you're good to go, downloading and surfing at superfast speeds. There's only one problem -- O2 hasn't announced how much its SIM-only deals for tablets will cost, so you'll be flying blind, but they will be available by the end of the year. You can pre-order a 4G Nexus 7 from tomorrow.

O2's 4G network goes live tomorrow , in London, Leeds and Bradford, with more towns set to be added before the end of the year. The oxygenated operator is celebrating with a Plan B shindig in Shepherds Bush, which you can watch live on YouTube .

Vodafone's 4G network goes live tomorrow too, but only in London. EE, which has been pumping out 4G for ten months, gleefully points out it's already available in over 100 towns, with Accrington the lucky 100th .

The new Nexus 7 is more expensive than last year's model, but it's a significant upgrade, with Android 4.3, a faster processor, a thinner chassis, and best of all, a super-sharp 1080p screen. You can buy the Wi-Fi-only model today from the Google Play Store , for £199 for the 16GB version and £239 for the 32GB model.

Last year's models are no longer on sale from the Big G, but they're still knocking around at resellers such as Argos, which will flog you a 3G-capable 32GB Nexus 7 for £240, or a 3G 16GB model for £160. You're essentially getting 3G free there, because those were Google's prices for the old Wi-Fi model.

Which Nexus 7 will you be nabbing? Are you impressed with the specs upgrade? Tempted by 4G? Deliver your verdict in the comments, or on the nexus of all things tech that is our Facebook page.
