Writing for the New York Times, David Pogue says an Apple executive assured him that new models, with new designs, are in the works, 'probably' to be released in 2013.

The iMac hasn't been updated at all, and the Mac Pro has received a very minor performance bump thanks to some new processors and a tad more memory. It's the first update, but there's no sign of Thunderbolt -- Apple's high-speed port would have seemed a natural fit for the gigantic professional-focused machine.
Apple's neglect of its high-end kit rightly has enthusiasts wondering if Apple is planning onthese monolithic Macs. This tip would suggest Apple hasn't entirely forgotten about the iMac and Mac Pro, but another year is a long time to wait.
While there's no way of knowing if it's genuine, one MacRumours reader reports receiving an email from Apple boss Tim Cook that says, "Our pro customers are really important to us... don't worry as we're working on something really great for later next year."
