Kegerator fuses vintage video games with a beer keg

Dream Arcades unveils the "ultimate party machine" where players can battle on Pac-Man, Centipede, and Street Fighter while filling their cup with a cold frosty brew.

Does tapping a keg that comes in the form of a workable vintage in-home arcade sound too good to be true? Well, it isn't.

Catering directly to 30- and 40-somethings, Dream Arcades has invented what it calls the "ultimate party machine." The "Kegerator Pro 60" comes with a built-in fridge, a keg with three taps, and more than 140 of the most popular classic video games. The arcade also has a massive 60-inch HDTV screen.

The company boasted in a statement e-mailed to CNET that the "players never have to stop the action to refill their drink" and the arcade also has two built-in cup holders "so players can keep their drinks topped off while keeping one hand on the joystick."

Dream Arcades isn't the only company that's come up with a beer-y arcade. The Beercade by McKinney , which debuted in February, features a game called The Last Barfighter that is similar to Mortal Kombat. Player 1 and player 2 each place a cup below their respective tap, and then fight it out in the video game to see who wins an actual pour.

Different from Beercade, the Kegerator doesn't require players to battle for beer and offers tons of classic video games, including Pac-Man, Galaga, Centipede, and Street Fighter. The machine also comes with Internet capability, a DVD player, and built-in MP3 software; this means it can double as a TV or jukebox. But the Kegerator doesn't come cheap -- it costs $5,000.
