iPhone 5 spurned by CNET UK readers

The iPhone 5 has only just been announced, but you've wasted no time in telling us exactly how underwhelmed you are.

The iPhone 5 has only just been announced and already a mass of you cheeky CNET UK readers have been expressing your disappointment with Apple's latest offering and your preference for Samsung's flagship blower, the Galaxy S3.

Hundreds of readers flocked to a poll on our most excellent Facebook page last night during the official unveiling of the phone. We posed the question "The iPhone is official -- will you be buying one?" And the results are quite dramatic. At the time of writing, a whopping 315 of you answered "Never! I'd rather have a Galaxy S3", far outweighing the mere 96 people who stuck by Apple and responded with "Yes, I can't wait to own it".

One poll commenter stated that he "Would rather buy Lumia 920 or Galaxy S3", while others note, "same old story since 2003," and "I wouldn't touch an apple with a barge pole!" Why don't you tell us how you really feel, guys? It's not all doom and gloom for Apple though, as one user explains, "the iPhone 5 seems much more superior to my current Android so that's the deal."

The same sentiment is mirrored in the comments on our preview of the new phone, where 489 of you have clicked the 'Not for me' button, beating the lesser 357 who clicked 'I want it'. So what is it that's made you so cold? Some of the key aspects being moaned about in our user reviews are the lack of expandable storage, the fact that it looks so similar to the previous model and that the screen still isn't quite big enough. Evidently the phone Goliaths like the Galaxy Note have been making an impression on you.

The iPhone 5 might look a little similar to the 4S, but it's got an all-metal back, a much slimmer design and, crucially, packs a 4-inch screen. It's also boasting Apple's latest A6 processor which claims an impressive 2x boost of performance over the 4S.

The improvements might well be more of an evolution than revolution but does it really deserve such a harsh response so soon? Let me know what you think in the comments below, or take to our Facebook page to vent your feelings.
