According to the industry-watchers at DigiTimes, the next tablet from Apple will be a new full-sized iPad in the autumn, going into production next month. The next version of the sawn-off 7.9-inch iPad mini will follow between September and November, in time for Christmas.
This is still rumour at this point, so take these reports with a pinch of salt. What will change in the new tablets is also still unconfirmed, but we're crossing our digits for a Retina display screen in the new mini.
Speculation surrounds the timing -- on the last go-round, Apple debuted both full-sized and mini iPad at the same time. But sales of the full-sized model took a hit as people opted instead for the new iPad mini, the first small tablet from Apple -- and the cheapest, too. By holding back the new mini, Apple could be looking to avoid a similar effect on sales of the embiggened iPad.
Alternatively, Apple may spread the two out because it would have trouble mass-producing not one but two new iPads at the same time.
