I love lasers

I love mobile phones -- I mean, I really love them -- but I also love lasers. I'm not talking about those piddly little laser pointers you get at market stalls, though. I'm talking about balloon-popping, cloud-touching, the-closest-you'll-get-to-a-real-lightsaber lasers.

The laser beam can be seen in daylight but looks great in the dark

One company that manufactures and supplies such awe-inspiring lasers is Wicked Lasers, based in the China. I got a Classic 15mW green Wicked Laser about a month ago and haven't been able to put it down. Considering it's the entry-level model, I can't begin to imagine what the better models are like.

On the first day I showed it to friends, I got the usual response of, "Oh, is it one of those rubbish laser pointers that doesn't warrant me getting out of my chair for?" But as soon as I shone it out the window and it touched a building that was two miles away, my friends shot out of their chairs and made the kind of noises associated with small children and firework displays.

Wicked Lasers has even made a laser using the diodes from Blu-ray players, but the truth is that words cannot express how cool these lasers really are. You need to get one and see for yourself. It will leave you speechless -- and replenish your faith that being a Jedi master is possible.
