Google Nexus 7 with Jelly Bean UK release date is 19 July

Dixons has revealed the 7-inch Google Nexus 7 tablet and Jelly Bean will hit British doormats and shop shelves on 19 July.

The Google Nexus 7 goes on sale on 19 July. Dixons has revealed the date the 7-inch tablet will hit British doormats and shop shelves, bringing cutting edge Jelly Bean software with it.

The Nexus 7 was unveiled by Google last month, and has been available to order for the past week or so. At launch, Google said that it would arrive in your hands in "mid-July", but Dixons has now named the 19th as the expected delivery date.

Dixons offers the 16GB version of the Nexus 7 for £200. You can also get an 8GB version from Google for £160, but delivery is listed on the big G's online store, Google Play, as "soon" and "2-3 weeks".

That's quite a cheap price for such a decent device. The Nexus 7 doesn't have a camera or 3G, but it does have a high-definition screen, video calling and a quad-core processor, as well as a giant battery

The Nexus 7 is also the first device to show off the next generation of Android software, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Jelly Bean features assorted improvements, including semantic search, mind-reading Google Now information and souped-up notifications -- click here for everything you need to know about Jelly Bean , or press play on our video below to see Nexus 7 and Jelly Bean in action.

Because it lacks 3G, the Nexus 7 doesn't need a phone contract, but I'm guessing the phone networks may sell it anyway. Dixons joins Carphone Warehouse as one of the first shops to confirm it's selling the Google slate.

Have you ordered your Nexus 7? Is the price right or would you rather pay extra for an iPad? Tell me your thoughts in the comments section or on our Facebook page.
