Google Nexus 7 II set to go 4G this month, says leak

Leaked specs suggest a new version of the Google Nexus 7 could go on sale this very month with 4G and Android 4.3.

The Google Nexus 7 II could go 4G. Leaked specs suggest a 7-inch sequel to the flagship Android tablet will have a high-definition screen and the choice of extra-fast 4G Internet connection -- and could be unveiled this very month.

The next generation of the bargain-tastic tablet, built by Asus with cutting-edge Google software inside, is set to deliver better than Full HD 1,980x1,200-pixel resolution. If the leak is to be believed, it'll be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor with 2GB of RAM.

The Nexus 7 II is claimed to have 32GB of internal storage for your music and movies and photos, with a 5-megapixel camera and hefty 4,000mAh battery.

As a Nexus device it will run the very latest version of Google's Android software. That's reported here to be Android 4.3 ; whether that's the long-rumoured Key Lime Pie update remains to be seen.

These details aren't official, but are alleged to have come from the horse's mouth: an online chat with a loose-lipped Asus customer service representative who apparently spilled the beans at the slightest prompting.

The Chatty Cathy from Asus also promised the Nexus 7 II would be unveiled at the end of July.
